I The main object of this invention is to provide an improved double wall unit for furnaces having an air space or chamber between the walls which may be assembled as a unit at the factory and compactly rolled for transportation and handling and set up as a unit.
Objects pertaining to details and economies of my invention will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure embodying the features of; my invention is clearlyillustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, in which:

Fig. 5 is an end view of the double wall unit rolled into a scroll-like form for transportation or handling, the parts being shown conventionally.
Referring to the drawing, 1 represents the body of a furnace, 2 the outer casing thereof and 3 the inner wall unit which is sup-ported in spaced relation to the casing 2 to provide an air space 4:, the structure illustrated be ing of the one-register type in which the air passes downwardly between the casing and the inner wall unit'and around the bottom of the inner wall unit and upwardly around the furnace body in the chamber 5.
The inner wall unit 3 comprises an outer sheet metal wall 6 and an inner sheet metal wall 7 which are supported in spaced relation to provide the air space 8 between them by means of the corrugated spacing strips 9 which are arranged circumferentially of the walls. These spacing strips are secured in the embodiment illustrated to the outer wall by means of the rivets 10. The inner wall 7 is mounted on the outer wall by means of the bendable sheet metal straps 11 which are secured to the outer wall by means of the rivets 10," and are folded over the edges of the inner wall, these strips being preferably arranged in opposed pairs as illustrated.
This effectively supports or connects the inner and outer walls in spaced relation providing an insulating air chamber between them, at the same time permitting the relative longitudinal movement of the walls one upon the other so that they may be adjusted to proper relation and also permitting the rolling of the unit into a scrolllike form as shown in Fig. 5, which would be impossible if the walls were rigidly connected one to the other.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A structure of the class described comprising inner and outer walls, corrugated spacing strips secured to the outer wall, and bendable supporting strips for the inner wall secured in opposed pairs on the outer wall to engage the edges of the inner wall.
2. A structure of the class described comprising inner and outer wallsof sheet metal, corrugated spacing strips arranged between said walls and secured to one of them providing an air space between the walls, and
coupling members mounted on one wall in opposed pairs to engage over the edges of the other wall whereby the walls are supported in spaced relation for relative sliding movement permitting the rolling of the walls into a scroll-like form.
3. A structure of the class described comprising a pair of walls, corrugated spacing strips disposed between said walls and secured to one of them, and bendable supporting straps secured to one of said walls and folded over the edges of the other wall whereby the walls are supported in spaced relation and relative longitudinal movement of the walls is permitted.
4:. A structure of the class described comprising a pair of walls spacing members disposed between said walls and secured to one of them, and bendable supporting straps secured to one of saic walls and folded over the edges of the other wall whereby the walls are supported in spaced relation and relative longitudinal movement of the walls is permitted.
5. A furance wall unit comprising inner and outer walls of sheet mctalpcorrngated spacing strips arranged between said walls and secured to one of them providing an air space between the walls and coupling members for said walls permitting relative sliding movement thereof.
6. A furnace wall unit comprising inner and outer walls of sheet metal, spacing members arranged between said walls and connected to one of them and coupling mem bers for said walls permitting relative sliding movement thereof.
