COLLAPSiBLE s'rovn;

the following a specification.
This invention is an improved portable stove which may be readily taken .to pieces and compactly arranged for storage and transportation and which may be also readily set up for use, the invention consisting in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
One object of my invention is to provide an improved stove of this character a feature of which is a box that forms the base and the top of the stove, the box, when the stove is collapsed serving tostore'the other parts of the stove.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a vertical transverse sectional view of a portable stove constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same set ifp and arranged for use. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same showing the stove with its parts disassembled and packed for storage or transportation. Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view of the same as when arranged for use. Fig. 4 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same on the plane-imdicated by the line aa of Fig. 1.
In the embodiment of my invention I provide an improved box which comprises a body 1 having a bottom 2, end walls 3 and side walls 4, and a top 5 which comprises a plate 6, flange walls 7 at the sides and flange walls 8 at the ends. The cover is adapted to fit on the open side of. the box with its flange walls partly overlapping the side and end walls of the box. Thezbox and its cover are made of suitable metal, such as sheet or plate steel or iron, This box is adapted for holding all the other parts of the stove as hereinafter described and claimed. The body of the box also forms the base of the stove and when so used is inverted so that the bottom of the box forms the bottom of the fire box of the stove and the box bottom is formed with spaced grate bars 9. The end walls and the rear side walls of the box are formed with recesses 10 for draft and-front wall of the box is also formed with an opening 11 through which an oven 12 may be passed to enable stove base and under the grate, or to be drawn out therefrom. This oven comprises a box like body 13 and a removable cover 14,-the latter having side and end flanges to partly overlap the side and end .walls of the body. At the front end of the body of the oven is a handle 15 'to facilitate the manipulation thereof. a t
' On the front 'of the boxf'body or stove basenre suitable hinge leaves 16. I'also provide a rear wall 17, a pair ofjend Walls 18 and a front wall 19', for the fire box of the tove and for. arran ement on the base and under the cover. T 0 front wall 19 is- .provided withspaced grate bars 20. These walls l718-19 are provided at their ends with matching feyes or leaves 21' which are here shown as ormedintegrally therewith. Bolt rods 22 are provided in the corners of the stove and vertically arranged, these bolt rods bemg passed through openings in the corners of the top and base of the stove and bemg also passed through the matching eyes of the walls of the fire box, so that the said bolt rods serve to detachably con-Q nect the walls of the fire box together and to also arrangp them between and secure them to the 'ase and top of the stove. These bolt rods are here shown as rovided with ornamental knobs 23 at them upper ends to,facilitate their 0 oration, the said knobs extending above t e corners of the stove top. I also provide a hob 24 which is here shown as a sheet or plate metal wall of a size and shape adapting it to fit against and cover the front wall 19 of the fire box. This hob has supporting legs 25 pivotally or hingedly connected to its outer corners and is provided at its inner corners with hinge leaves or members 26 to match the hinge leaves 16, pintle rods being passed through said hinged leaves 1626 and .coacting with them to pivotally connect the hob to the front side of the base formed by the body of the box. The hob may be extended and arranged in horizontal position with its legs 25 hearing on the ground as shown in full lines'i'n Fig. 1, to uncover the front wall 19', and for use as a hob. When it is desired that there shall be a strong draft through the stove, as when baking, the hob may be folded up against the front wall of the stove and caused to close over the grate 20 thereof as indicated in'dotted lines in Fig. 1. When thus arranged the upper side the'ov'ento be arranged withinthe box or of the hob may-be engaged by the front wall or flange of the top 5 and hence held in such position. Y 1 p I The top is providedwith an Opening and collar :28 for the attachment of a suitable stove pipe 29 and-is also provided with openings 30, and lids 31 to cover said openings. It will be understood that by first withdrawin the bolt rods and pintle rods the parts 0 the stove may be disconnected from one another. The size of thebody of the box is such as to adapt it to hold all the other parts of the stove, excepting the top, and when the parts of the stove have been thus arranged in the box, and the cover, placed thereon, the entire stove occupies but very little space and is very conveniently packed fontmnsportation.
'escribed my invention, I
Having thus claimz- A portable stove comprising a box body,
forming the base of the stove, side and end walls for arrangement on the bottom of the box' body when the latter is inverted, a cover to fit on the) upper sides of said slde and end walls, and also-to fit on the box body, and means to detachably secure the side and end walls together and to secure'them to and between the box body and cover, the bottom of the box, forming'agrate, one of the walls of the stove also forming a grate,
and a plate detachzibly, pivotally connected to the box body, and adapt-ed to be arranged on the outer side of the grate wall, to close the latter'or to be arranged in lower position to form a hob.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of 'tWo witnesses;
