. HALTER.

Application filed September 10, 1926. Serial No. 134,635.

This invention relates to a halter which is made entirely of a one-piece wirecable. This is flexible, weather-proof, moistureproof and non-shrinkable. As hereinafter 6 set forth and as shown in the drawings, the cable has its various portions so curved and folded upon itself as to form a halter, the neck piece of which includes a snap fastener of the usual type by means of which the halter may be readily opened for removal.

2 and 3 of which are bent on itself to form bights 5, which receive a wire ring 6 to which a leading rope may be attached. All four strands of the two bights are encircled by a fastener 4 which holds them in proper relation. The stretches 2 and 3 lie parallel to each other for a short distance and are fastened by metal bands 7 and 8. p

The stretch 2 is extended as shown at 9 to form a loop 10 engaging a snap fastener 11 and is returned on itself, the two parts be ing fastened together adjacent the loop by a band 12; The return strip 13 passes throughan eye 14; fastened to one side of the nose piece 1 and the free end is held fastened by a metal piece 15.

The strip 3 continues as shown at 16 for a much greater distance and is bent to form a loop 17 which also engages the snap fastener 11. This stretch is returned on itself and the two portions held in parallel relation throughout the greater part of the extent by

19 and 20. This return strip 18 passes through an eye 21 similar to the eye 14 around the opposite side of the nose piece and this end of the cable is fastened by a fastener 22. If desired, the upper part of the neck piece may be wound with rope yarn 23 or similar covering to prevent chafing.

Most of the fastening devices referred to will be such as to hold the parts in definite i0 relation but the

14 and 21 will be clamped to the sides of the nose piece but the part which receives the ends of the rope Willbe large enough to permit turning movement of the looped ends therein.

It is obvious that minor details may be varied without in any way, departing from the spirit of the invention, which is to be regarded as limited only by the scope of the appended claims.

We claim as our invention:

1. A halter formed of a single piece of rope, said rope having a looped portion forming a nose piece, the ends of rope after the formation of the nose piece being'bent to form bights, a fastening encircling both bights, a snap fastener, one end of the rope being extended from said bights through the snap fastener and back to one side of saidnose piece, the other end of said rope being of greater length and extended from said bights through said snap fastener to form a neck piece and returned on itself to the other side of the nose piece, and fastening means for connecting said ends of the rope to the nose piece.

2. A halter formed of a single piece of rope, said rope having a loop-ed portion forming a nose piece, the ends of rope after the formation of the nose piece being bent to form bights, a fastening encircling both bights, a snap fastener, both ends of the rope being extended from the bights through the snap fastener and returned on themselves to engage opposite sides of the nose piece.

3. A halter formed of a single piece of rope, said rope having a looped portion forming a nose piece, the ends of rope after the formation of the nose piece being bent to form bights, a ring about which said bights pass, a fastening encircling both bights pass, a fastening encircling both bights, additional fastening means causing both ends to lie parallel for a short distance, a snap fastener, both ends of the rope being 5 extended from the bights through the snap fastener and returned on themselves to form a neck piece, fastening means for the parallel portions of the return ropes, and means whereby the ends of the ropes are attached to opposite sides of the nose piece. 10 In testimony whereof, We have hereunto subscribed our names.
