' Application filed-September 'My ia'ivention relates to railway car tracks vention, the bolster columns h avereduced end-s to form pins and seats at the bases of the pins, these pins formed in the arch bars, these arch bars en.- gaging' sai'd seats. The bolster columnsar'e desirably also riveted to the arch barsthat are entered. by the pins and the assembly'of these arch bars and the bolster columnsiis further assured by expanding the outer ends of the pins, into heads that lap these arch bars; In the preferred embodiment ofthe invention, eaehsideframe has two bolster columns which are joined at their lower ends.
' by a yoke'whic'h is assembled with oneof the arch bars, the ends of the columns opposite said yoke being formed with the pins that enter the other arch. bar, t he latter archbar being riveted to said columns adjacent said pins. i y Y xIn accordancewith anotherfeature of the invent-ion, an assembling member is em ployed to .join the bolster. column uniting yoke with one of the arch bars. This assembling me'mber surrounds this arch bar and has a portion passing through .said yoke. Said assembling members. is desirably inclusive of a U-shaped part that receives the yoke and the arch bar adjacent theyoke and a bolt passing through the .yoke' andthe sides of said U-shaped part. t Another feature of my inventionrelatesto the journal boxes assembled with the arch bars. In accordance with this feature of the invention, the ends of the arch ,bars meet uponthe topsof the ournal boxes wh ch are bolted to the'arch bars a nda pi'nfis driven.
into one arch bar end at each end of'the'side frame, the other arch bar ends havingholes in'which said pins are received. The bolts which assemble the journal boxes with the arch bars are thus relieved of shearing strains, t-hatotherwise might be effectively exerted by the arch bars.
I will explainmy invention more fully by reference to the accompanyingdrawing in which Fig. 1 is a side viewof a car truck employing a side frame of my invention,
' parts being shown in section; Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view on line 22 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of a part of the entering openings 7 FRAME.

structure appearing in Fig. 1;; F.ig- -4Qis a view on line 44; of Fig. 3'; and Fig.5 is-a' view,- from beneath, illiistr'ating some of, the partsgun the region: ofthe' bolster column oining yoke, partsbeing brokenaway. g
The truck side fr-ameillusti-rated"includes a lower archbar ortension inernberQZ, bolster columns 3-and 4%, a yoke 5Ijo'ining; thelo werl ends ofthe; bolster columns, journal boxes 6 at the ends of the side frame, and tielinks 7- which assemble the lower ends ofthe journ'al'boxes with the yoke 5'. The archbars .1
and 2 are desirably of rolled steel -converg ing toward the, ends of the side frame and whose ends are brought together above thej r, 7
These journal boxes are asseine-bled with-the arch bars. by means of the journal boxes.
Uboltsv 8 whose side portions-pass upwardly tl1rough;tl-1e journal boxes and whose base portions are clamped against'the bottomsfof I the journal boxes by means ofthenuts 9 screwed uponthe ends of the U. bolts. The inner upright sides of; said. Ubolts, pass through the tie links andengage the outer ends of these links The innerends of; these links are received within recesses, 10- tli-atare formed in the bottonrside of theyoke '5 near the middle of the yoke. The tie links; thus serve to prevent the bottoms of the boxes from spreading apart.
ournal ;The yoke 5 is assembled w'th thearch 2 by means; of an assembling member which g 7 ber thus surrounds the arch bar and has a portion,- the bolt 12, which passesthrough said-yoke; The. upper ends of the bolster columns 3 and: at are reduced to formpins '13 and seatsat the base: ends of these pins These pins enteropenings formed in the upper arch bar .1, th.1s arch bar engag ng the aforesaid seats. The pinsv havetheir upper or outer ends expanded into heads that lap the arch bar 1, as illustrated most clearly in Fig. 1. The bolster columns desirably-have wing portions 14 extending therefrom to-- ward the ends of the side'frame, rivets 15v passing through these wing portions and the arch bar 1 further to assure the assembly of this-arch bar with the bolster col umns. A pin 16 is driven into one arch bar end. atv
each end of, the side frame, preferably the I in ' lower arch barend, the other arch bar ends having holes in which said pins are received in the process of assembling the ends of the arch bars. These pins serve to guard the bolts 8 from shearingaction of the arch bars. These pins are shaped to slip into said holes to permit separation of the arch bars.
A outer ends expanded into heads that lap this arch bar; and rivets also uniting said 001- I umns and the latter arch bar.
2.A- truck side frame including upper and lower arch bars; and two columns between said arch bars, there being a yoke joiningsimilar ends of said columns and assembled with one of said arch bars, the ends of the columns opposite said yoke being reduced to form pins and seats at the bases of the pins, said pins entering openings formedin the other arch bar'and which arch bar engages said seats, said pins having'their outer ends expanded into heads that lap this arch bar.

6. A truck side frame including-upper and lowerarch bars and a column between said arch bars and having one'end reduced ,to'form a pin and a seat at-the base end of said pin, the pin entering an opening formed in. one of the arch bars, this bar engaging said seat, the outer end of said pin being expanded into a head that laps this arch bar.
