My invention relates to gutter hanger circles such as are used in connection with the supporting or hanging of gutters on buildings.

a Heretofore various forms and types of gutter hangers circles have been produced, chief among which are those produced b casting and those produced from sheet meta The cast *circles are perhaps the most satisfactory form in use to-day, but are objectionable on account of their relatively high price. The circles produced from sheet metal have met with substantial success but, though relatively cheap, are open to objection as not sufiicientl strong and durable.

In accordance wit my invention, I have produced a gutter hanger circle, which will e hereinafter described in detail, of a maximum strength and durability and at the so same time a circle which may be readily roduced with a minimum of labor at a ow cost on account'of material. Having indicated in a general way the nature and purpose cf m invention, I will at proceed to a detailed escription thereof with reference'to the accompanying drawings, in which there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention and in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of a blank from so which the circle embodying my invention is formed.

In forming the blank, the web and one flange at one end of the blank are cut away square leaving the other flange which forms an extension B. At the other end of the blank the web and the same flange are cut away on the bias, leaving an extension C. The circle is formed by bending the blank into the form shown in Figure 3 to provide a gutter supporting portion D, a gutter seat d being formed by one of the flanges, and a hanger engagin portion E. When the arts are so secured, the outer faces of. the dianges of the circle and hanger are flush as shown in Fig. 6.

In the circle illustrated in Figure 3, it will be notedthat the extensions B and C,

which are bent to form the hooks b and 0 4 of the finished circle are extensions of the distorted to form a portion ofthe hanger engaging bead.

The use of the circle will be clearly understood from an inspection of Figure 6, in which m'indicates a gutter, one edge of which is engaged by book 6, while the other edge is secured by the usual strap 11., one end of which is engaged with the hook 0.

The circles shown in Figures 7,. 8 and 9 embody essentially the'invention above de scribed with slight variations in structural detail and operate in essentially the same I manner as does the circle illustrated Figure 3 and operatively shown in Fi re 6.

In Figure 9 is illustrated a circle in which the hanger engaging portion D is extended and the gutter engaging hook I) is formed by shearing a portion of the inner flange from the web. 1

As a result of my invention, it will be observed that a circle as well as the hangermay be formed from metal initially rolled to channel section and possessive of great strengthand further .formed with a, min-v imum of bending strain on the metal.

Having now fully described my inven- 1' tion, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is- 1. A gutter hanger circle formed from a hanger 30'". engaging portion for engaging aseat on a'i.

2. A gutter hanger circle formed from a I channel section, comprising a body portion for the support of a gutter and a hanger engaging portion formed by distortion of the web and a portion of one of the flanges of the channel, to form an'elongated seat engagingplortion for engaging a seat on a hanger.

3. A gutter hanger circle formed from a channel section, comprising a; body portion" for the support of a gutter and a hanger engaging portion formed by pressing the web outwardly to form a projection adapted to be seated between the flanges of i a channel section hanger.
