APPARATUS FOR CONSTRUCTING CONCRETE FLOORS AND WALLS.

. Be it known that I, "WILLIAM. L. CHURCH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Newton, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Apparatus for Constructing Concrete Floors and VValls,of
which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to apparatus for constructing Concrete floors and walls and its'objects are to improve and simplify the same in the manner hereinafter set forth.
Apparatus of the general type described herein has been set forth in detail in .the application of N. F. Ambursen, Serial No.
229,168, filed April 17, 1918, and the claims of the present case are directed to certain modifications thereof in the nature of simplifications and improvements. In the drawings which accompany and form a part of this specification-l- I --};Figure 1 is a horizontal section of my member hereinafter improved apparatus showing the use thereof for constructing 'a single-rib wall. Fig. 2 is a vertical section showing'the arrangement of my, apparatus for. molding a reinforced concrete floor having reinforced conoreteribsformed integral therewith. Fig.

In the particular drawings selected for more fully disclosingmy invention, 1, 1 represent support members for the metallic forms 2, 2, saidsupport members belng shown in the present instance as metallic channels. In constructing a wall the channels are arranged vertically and are spaced apart, a form 2 being arranged between each pair of adjacent channels. the headed'bolts 7 passing through the web of each channel 1 and which extendbeyond the latter and abut the flanges 5 aforesaid of the side members of the for1ns.'a wing nut 8 being threaded to the outer end of said bolt to hold said buttons in position. In order to prevent the forms from moving inwardly before the concrete is poured, I provide a clip 9 arranged to take over the inwardly extending flanges 5 of the forms; and rest against the outer surface of the] webs of the channels.
As shown in Fig. 2 thelaterally-spaced longitudinal reinforcing members 11 and 12 are suitably supported in the slab portion and in the ribs of the floor respectively.
In Fig. 3 thelon'gitudinal reinforcing mem bers are indicated at 13.
It has been found that the sheet-metal forms "2 become "somewhat battered in use and do not "always make'tight joints with each other or with the channels. To overcome this defect I provide a gap-stopping member consisting, as shown in Fig. 5 at about twice'its actual size, of a thin sheet of metal reve'rsely bent to form abody portion 14, the upper ends of each half of which terminate preferably in the cap portions 15, 15 which may b'e'slightly curved-asindicated to prevent their extremities from being forced out of contact with the forms and: channels with which they are in contact. The body portion is adapted to 'fit into any gap that may be left between the concrete forms and the channels as shownin Fig. 4, or between two contiguous formsas shown in Fig. 7. the elasticity of the material of which it is made insuring atight fit. It will be understood however that the gapstopping members need not be made of metal and that paper or any other.suitable mate. rial may be used for this purpose.
It is highlydesirable in floor construction that the flanges 3.and the side members 4: of
the'forms should each make an acute angle with the surface of the form so that each side member will be angularly arranged ou's.
With'respect to the flange of its conti channel and each end flange 3 will m e an angle with the flange-of its contiguous form,-
