SIEVE IVPLATE FOR SCREW rmissns.
Application filed April 15, 1926, Serial No.
Screw presses for removing water from cellulose and other aqueous substances in a pasty or pulp-like form are afliicted with the drawback that the pulp layer located '1 7 or covering located next to thefsieve plate resulting in turn in the possibility of pressing out water from the inner part of the pulp layer. i
According to the invention thelast portion of the sieve plate, either in the proximity of or beyond the point, where the screw. terminates is constructedwith an'increased circumference, whereby the tight pulp layer adhering to :the sieve plate is divided or broken upan'd channels are formed through which water from the inner portions of the pulp can be pressed out and be conducted through the sieve perforations.
'In the drawing some constructional forms of the invention are illustrated. Figures 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 show the lastportion of the screw press in longitudinal section in five different forms. Figure 4 is a cross section on the line IVIV of Figure 3. Similar reference numbers have the sanie meaning in all figures. I p
"Referring to Figure 1, the press screw 1 is surrounded by the cylindrical sieve plate 2, which is in turn spacedly surrounded by the outer casing 3. 5 is the outlet compartment. Between the outlet 5 and the point, where the screw 1 terminates, the sieve plate end and the outlet is imade with 102,286, and in; Norway February 2 is continuedvin the forniof annular portions the diameter of whlch lncreases in steps as shownat 4. r
Q g Figure 2 the widened'extension of the sieve plate ismade 'bymeansof an outwardly v tapering'section 4: with perforations. K Y Figures 3-and 4:; illustrate'a third construetional form. As will be se'en,the portion 4 i of the sieve plate'located between the screw cross section instead of a; circular cylindrical section, whereby 'thesamenresu'lt is obtained'. I
Figure 5 shows a construction 'representing a border case of theiconstructionindicated in Figure 2. The tapered portion 4 of the sieve plate is made i of a plane disc. 1;
-According to Figure 6 the'screw' is not terminated at the point where tl'1e. widening of the cross section commences but it continues through the extended portion 4 with decreasing diameter, thus in'eflect still furit ther enhancing the cross sectional area of the outlet. a
