.U NITED STATES- WILLIAM THEODORE SCHOLL,
PATENT OFFICE.
or oAKLA-Nn CITY}. rnnraim.
Application fifed May 1 3,
This invention relates to an oral kit, and has for its object to provide an entirely portable and self contained tooth cleaning apparatus and mouth was-h container, which will occupy a minimum amount of space, and have a minimum amount of weight and yet will be capable of practical use.-
According to my invention, the necessary tooth cleaning appliances are combined in a very small and compact liquid-tight package so that they can be carried at all times during the day, upon the person.
It is thereby made possible to conveniently clean the teeth at any time, irrespective of the place, the person having the apparatus may happen to be.
It is well understood that the periodical and frequent cleaning of the teeth is necessary for hygienic reasons; hence, the 01316017 of my invention is to make it possible for the user to be in a position to clean the teeth at any time.
Another very important object of the in vention is to provide an oral kit of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong, durable, and is reliable, easy to manipulate, in all its particulars, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure 1 is an edge elevation of the oral kit embodying the features of my invention Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section taken th-erethrough, substantially on the line 22 of Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is an elevation thereof, partly in section,
Fig. 4 is a detail section taken substantially on the line 44 of Fig. 2, and
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary detail section thru a slightly modified embodiment of the invention.
Referring to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the casing of this kit includes side walls 5, edge walls 6 and 7, end walls 8 and 9. A transverse partition 10, and a longitudinal partition 11 formed with sides 5, edge 6, and end 9, a tooth paste com- 1926'. Serial N 0-. 108,837.-
partment P, a: pair of spaced partitions 12' and 13 extending. from the partition 10 to the end 8' and sliidably receiving therebetween arack bar 1%, which is fixed! on the plunger 15 slida-blein the compartment P, for the purpose of'ejecting the tooth paste therein.
The partition 12 forms with portions of the sides 5, end and edge 6, a concentrated mouth wash compartment M. The partition 13, a portion of the partition 10, the partition 11, the edge 7, and a portion of the end 9, form a tooth brush compartment T in which may be disposed a telescoped handle tooth brush B. A housing H is formed on the lower' portion of the partition it and houses a corrugated wheel 17 which partially projects through one side 5 as is shown to advantage in Fig. 3. This wheel is on a shaft 18 journaled in the partitions 12 and 13 and on which is disposed a gear 20 in mesh with the rack bar let.
It will thus be seen that the plunger 15 may be reciprocated in the compartment P by the operation of the wheel 17. The Wall 8 has an opening leading into the compartment 1 which is closed by the perforated plate 22 which is hinged as at 23 and locked in a closed position by a spring clip 24. An externally threaded collar 25 projects from the wall or end 9 communicating with the compartment P and a cap 26 is threaded thereon having a central opening 27 therein normally closed by a swivelly mounted spring 29.
It will be seen that this cap may be removed by swinging the spring 29 out of the way and a tube of tooth paste or the like threaded thereon so that the contents of the same may be forced into the compartment P. If desired, another embodiment may be provided as is shown in Fig. 5, wherein a removable closure plate 30 is shown, provided with the outlet opening 31 over Which is closeable the mounted spring 29.
A filling plug 32 is provided in the end 8 for filling the compartment M and a vent opening is closed by the plug 33.
It is thought that the construction, operation, utility, and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood by those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof. The present embodiments of the invention have been disclosed in detail merely by way of example, since they attain in actual practice, the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
lVhile I have shown and described my preferred embodiments of the invention, it will be obvious that the. same are susceptible of minor changes and modifications without departing from the principle and the scope thereof, and for the foregoing reasons I wish it hereby clearly understood. that I do not wish myself to be limited to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts shown, but consider myself at liberty to make such detail changes and variations therein as fairly lie within the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is A device of the class described including a casing formed with a pair of sides, a pair of ends, and a pair of edges, partitions in the casing one extending from one edge between thc'sides, another extending from one end between the sides of the inner end of the first mentioned partition for forming a tooth paste compartment, a plunger in said compartment, means for operating the plunger, a partition rising from the first mentioned partition between the sides to the other end to form a mouth wash compartment, a tooth brush containing compartment, and a perforated plate closure forthe tooth paste compartment.
In testimony whereof I affixmy signature.
WILLIAM THEODORE SCHOLL.
