STREET FLUSHER.

Figure 3 is an elevation of the tank showing the supply pipe leading therefrom.
Street flushing by means of truck tanks having perforated pipe discharges have been in common use but it has been found neces sary to follow one truck with another in order to accomplish a satisfactory result.
The present invention has been devised to enable one truck to do work satisfactorily in one passage along a street. This is accomplished by the peculiar arrangement of discharge pipes as shown.
A vertical supply pipe 1 leads from a suitable pressure tank. A reducing T 2 is secured to the bottom end of the pipe 1 and pipes 3 are threaded into the reducer 2 and extend beyond the frame 4 and terminate immediately forward of the wheels 5.
Elbows 6 are secured to the ends of the pipes 3 to which are connected the valve controlled perforated pipes 7 and 8. These pipes extend parallel with the frame 4 and in substantially horizontal alignment one with the other and they are each provided with a row of perforations along the outward side. The pipe 7 is longer than the pipe 8 and has an inwardly turned angular extension 9 which extends well past the longitudinal centre line of the truck. The other pipe 8 has an inwardly turned angular ex-- tension 10 the terminal end of which crosses over the longitudinal centre line of the truck behind the pipe 9. Pipes 9 and 10 are each provided with a row of perforations on the outer side.
Nipples 11 are threaded into the perforations 12 in the pipes 7, 8, 9 and 10 and extend beyond the inner surface of the pipes so that any sand or dirt which may collect. in the pipes will be trapped below the nipppes thus avoiding the plugging of the nipp es.
Caps 13 are provided at the ends of the pipes 9 and 10 which may easily be removed from time to time when it is desired to flush the pipes free of any collected dirt.
This arrangement provides for the double flushing of the crown of the road and ensures the loosening and carrying away of the dirt thereon and by the arrangement of the parallel side pipes the flushing eflect is progressive. 7
What I claim as my invention is 1. In a street flusher, the combination with a water tank mounted on a conveyance and having a water outlet, of perforated pipes connected with said outlet horizontally disposed and arranged in angular relation the one to the other and with their outer ends overlapping and extending beyond the centre line of travel of said conveyance.
2. In a street flasher. the combination with a water tank mounted on a conveyance and having a water outlet, of pipes connected with said outlet horizontally arranged at the side of said conveyance and extendin parallelly and rearwardly and having perforations in their outward sides, said pipes each. having its outer end turned inwardly and extending consider-ably beyond the centre line of travel of said conveyance, both of said inwardly turned outer ends being perforated on their outward sides and projecting definitely overlapping sprays a certain distance outwardly from said centre line.
3. In a street flusher, the combination with a water tank mounted on a conveyance and having awater outlet, of pipes connected with said outlet horizontally arranged at the side of said conveyance and extending parallel and rearWardly and having perforations in their outward sides, said pipes each having its outer end turned inwardly and extending considerably beyond the centre line of travel of said conveyance both of said inwardly turned outer ends being perforated on their outward sides, the portions of the outer ends extending beyond said centre line of travel being each adapted to project a 10 spray overlapping that projected by the other to either side of said centre line.
