The present invention relates to improvements in womens garments. and particularly to the shadow proofing of certain parts of the material of which the same are made.

Other objects will be apparent from reading this specification in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring now. in detail to the drawings, 4 represents the warp and 5 represents the woof threads of my material. At one marginal, longitudinal side of the material, shown in Figs. 1 and 2, at the right thereof, the warp threads are denser in number than in the remainder of the fabric, while the woof threads are uniformly spaced from each other throughout the fabric, the result being that by reason of the closer weave. that portion of the material so fabricated is rendered shadow proof withoutadding unduly to the weight of the material, and

salt is attained by the closeness of the weave wish to be limited to the embodiment shown,

without facing or hemming the material to attain such result. The same object may be obtained by weaving heavier warp threads into the portion of the material to be shadow proofed and maintaining the same spacesbetween the centers of the threads as is maintained in the remaining area of the material where the lighter strands are used.- The shadow proofing re;

lVhile I have shown and described the shadow proof area of my fabric as having therein a greater number of warp threads, or heavier warp threads, in a given space, than in the remaining area of the fabric in a corresponding space, it will be understood that this additional material may be woven into the shadow proof space from the shuttle instead of from the warp, in which case the warp threads would be uniformly spaced and the shadow proof portion would be lateral of the fabric instead of longitudinal thereof.

In Figure 3 I have illustrated a garment 6 made of my matefi al, in which thelighter portion is indicated at 7 and the shadow proof portion is indicated at 8, the depth of the latter portion being such as to attain its object of blocking rays of light which would otherwise pass therethrough. 7

I have described what I believe to be the best embodiment of my invention. I do not however, but what I desire to protect by Letters Patent is set forth in the appended claims.

What I claim as new is:

1. A fabric for womens wear having a deep margin of closely woven material to render the same shadow proof, and the remainder thereof of relatively loosely woven material. a

2. A fabric for womens wear having the warp threads more closely woven to render the same shadow proof for a deep margin of one longitudinal side of the fabric than p for the remainder thereof.
