Description

IN VE 0R. 4

PATENT OFFICE. f
PETER BECSI, OF DURAND, MICHIGAN. Y
BLOTTER nnvrcn ron PENS.
Application inea yFebruary This invention relates to improvements in blotte'rs and has for its object'to provide a blotter device to be carried on a pen. v Another object fof the invention is to provide a carrier oiiwhich a clip is pivotally supported, said clip adapted to engage a fountain or other pen, and a roller on said carrier upon which a blotter` is removably mounted. Y.
Another object ofthe invention is to provide a tubular` blotter and a roller upon which said blotter is adapted to be removably mounted.
A still further object Vof the invention is to provide la device of this character which will be practical and efficient in use, cheap to manufacture, strong and durable.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a blotter carrier of resilient ma terial having a roller pivoted thereto and means for fixing the same to a fountain pen, said ioller being removable whereby a blotter maybe changed when necessary.
ysa
With the above and such other objects in view, as may hereinafter more fully appear,
I have invented the device shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
F igure 1 is a side elevational view of a pen, embracing my invention;
Figure 2 is a similar view, showing` a changed position of a blotter;
Figure 3 is an end, elevational view thereof, showing the blotter in the act of being removed from its carrier;
Figure 4 is a section on line 4--4 of Figure 5 v Figure 5 is a plan view of my device, partly broken away;
Figure 6 is a section on line 6 6 of Figure 5; and
Figurej 7 is a perspective view of the blotter tube. y
Like referencey characters indicate like parts throughout the following specification and in the several views in the drawings, in which 1 indicates a pen, having mounted thereon a carrier 1f havinga clip 2, pivotally supported thereon, and held in fixed position by means ofra leaf spring 3, to which the clip pivot 4 is riveted. The clip 2, is provided with indentations or struck out portions 5, which engage in similarly formed indentatioiis 6, in the base 7 of the clip member. The carrier member 1 tapers from the center, toward each end 8 and 9,

having right angular terminals with apertures 10 and 11 therein, forming bearings for the pins 12 and 13 of the roller 14, upon which a blotter tube 15, is removably mounted.- The carrier memberv 1 may be made of resilient material whereby either end yS and 9 may be sprung out of` engagement with the pins 12 andl 18, as illustrated in Figure 3, in order to remove the roller 14, and take off used or worn out blotters and replace the same with new ones.
rlhe roller 14, may be made of wood, fiber, rubber or any other suitable material and of any desired size. The blotter tubes may be cut the exact length ofthe roller 14, or they may be made in longer lengths and cut as required for use.
From the above description it will be obvifor use. Y
The device may be used either longitudinally of the pen, as indicated in Figure 1, or transversely of the pen as shown in Figure 3, locking ii'ieans being provided to hold the carrier in either position.
Having described my invention that which I claim to be new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a blotting device, a roller, a blotter tube removably mounted thereon, a carrier for the roller and a clip rotatably mounted on the carrier centrally thereof, and means for locking this clip and carrier.
2. In a blotting device, a roller, ablotter tube removably mounted thereon, a carrier for thev roller and a clip rotatably mounted von the carrier centrally thereof, and means 80 always have a blotter convenient and ready for the roller and a clip rotatably mounted on the carrier centrally thereof, and ine-ans for locking this clip and carrier in parallel relation and in transverse relation.
5. In a blotting device, a roller, a blotter tube removably mounted thereon, a. carrier for the roller and a clip rotatably mounted on the carrier centrally thereof, and means for looking` this clip and carrier in parallel relation and in transverse relation, said means including a leat' spring.
6. In a blotting device, a roller, a blotter tube removably mounted thereon, a carrier lor the roller and a clip having a depression rotatably mounted on the carrier centrally thereof, and means for locking this clip and carrier in parallel relation and in transverse relation, said means includin` a leaf spring and projection on the carrier adapted lo seat in said depression in the clip.
7. In a blotting device, a roller, a tube i'orined of a single layer oitl blottin;` material, Said tube beinp` removable i'roIn the roller. said tube and roller being ot' substantially even lengths, and a spring clip carrier for the roller, and a spring controlled spring clip upon which the carrier is mounted.
8. A device ol' the character described embracing a carrier, a blotter roller rotatably mounted thereon, and a clip rotatably mounted thereon, and means Afor holding,r said carrier and clip locked in a pluralty ol positions.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature.
PETER BECSI.
