Description

Ma 1927f F. SPEIDEL I UNSOLDBRED HOOK ELEMENT FOR WATCH BRACELETS Filed Sent. 2, 1925 Patented ltlar. 22, 1927..
UNITED STATES PATENT GFFICE.
FRIEDRICH SPEIDEL, OF PFORZHEIIVI, GERMANY, ASSIGNOB, TO THE FIRM FR.
SPEIDEL, OF KALLI-IARDSTRASSE, PFORZHEIIVI, GERMANY.
UNSOLDERED HOOK ELEMENT FOR WATCH BRACELETS.
Application filed September 2, 1925, Serial No. 544156, and in. Germany August 4, 1925.
This invention relates to an unsoldered hook element for watch bracelets.
According to the invention the open en-t of the hook is closed by an elastic tongue which is mounted on the box-shaped part of the unsoldered hook element without soldering and permits of easily hooking the watch on or H.
The improved watch bracelet hook is shown, by way of example, in the QCCOHL panying drawing in which Fig. 1 shows in perspective view the blank from which the box shaped hook element is made.
Fig. 2 is a .similar view as Fig. 1 showing the side edges bent up.
Fig. 3 is a similar view as Fig. 2 showing the top edges of the bent up side edges bent inward.
Fig. 4 is a similar view as Fig. 3 the end of the blank being bent upward and in ward to form a hook.
Fig. 5 shows in perspective view the blank of sheet metal for the production of the elastic tongue.
Fig. 6 shows in perspective view the tongue bent from the blank shown in Fig. 5.
Fig. 7 shows in perspective view the blank of sheet metal for the production of the elastic clamp designed to be placed over the elastic tongue.
Fig. 8 shows the clamp made from the blank shown in Fig. 7
Fig. 9 shows the clamp placed over the tongue in perspective view.
I ig. 10 is a top plan view of 9.
Fig. ll shows in perspective view the box-- shaped hook part with the tongue and clamp inserted. V
Fig. 12 shows the finished hook element inserted in a watch bracelet.
The hook element according to the in vcntion is made from a piece a. of sheet metal stamped out as shown in Fig. 1. The side edges 7) of the piece of sheet metal a bent upward and inwardly to form an open box, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The front extension (a of the piece of sheet metal a is rolled to form an open eye and the front edge 0 of this extension is bent downward (Fig.
T he elastic tongue of the hook shaped element is made from a piece of sheet metal 0. shown in Fi 5, which has a transverse slot 7' and is bent, as shown in Fig. 6 to form a spreading sprin An elastic clamp g is placed over the closed end of this spreading spring and forms at the same time the bottom part of the boX shaped element a. The elastic clamp g is made from a rectangular piece of sheet metal shown in Fig. 7 which has a transverse slot 2' and an extension 72. at one end, said extension being bent and rolled to form a clamp as shown in Fig. 8.
Figs. 9 and 10 show how the elastic tongue 6 is gripped by the spring clamp g and how the bent edge of the end of said clamp 9 engages with the transverse slot 7 of tongue e.
Fig. 11 shows the tongue 0 with the clamp g inserted into the box-shaped part of the open hook element, the downwardly bent edge 0 of the eye a engaging with the slit '5 of the spring clamp 9 so that the elastic tongue 6 with the spring clamp g are securely mounted in the box-shaped part of the open hook element without soldering and securely held by the edges 6. The clamp 9 forms at the same time the bottom of the box-shaped part.
The flap cl of the sheet metal piece a which is rolled or bent to form an open hook forms, together with the elastic tongue 6, the hook for the watch bracelet (Fig. 12).
I claim 1. An unsoldered hook for watch bracelets comprising in combination a box-shaped hook open at the upper end, an extension at the shaft end of said hook rolled to form an eye the free edge of said eye bent downward, an elastic tongue in said box-shaped hook, an elastic clamp on the closed end of said tongue said clamp having a transverse slit with which said bent edge of said eye engages sothat the elastic tongue is securely held in the hook without soldering.
2. An unsoldered hook "for watch bracelets comprising in combination a box-shaped hook open at the upper end, an extension at the shaft end of said hook rolled to form an eye the free edge of said eye bent downward, an elastic tongue in said box-shaped hook, said tongue having a transverse slit, an elastic clamp on the closed end oi said tongue said clamp having a transverse slit with which said bent edge of said eye engages so that the elastic tongue is securely held in the hook without soldering, and a downwardly bent edge of the top partof said clamp engaging with said transverse slit of said tongue.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
. FRIEDRICH SPEIDEL.
