IMPROVEMENT IN EXTENSION-TABLE SLIDES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 162,049, dated April 13, 1875; application filed March 12, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES 0. Fnosr, of Towanda, in the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Table-Slide; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a plan view; Fig. 2, a transverse section through line 00 x.

This invention relates to certain improt'ements in extension-table slides; and it consists in a plate having hooked-shaped extremities which grasp the frame-pieces, an extension or tongue in between the hooks, which moves in a groovein theframe-pieces, and a dovetail extension upon the outside which forms a rigid connection for the plate to the frame-pieces, without the use of screws, all combined and arranged as hereinafter more fully described.

In the drawing, A represents the metallic plate, which is provided with end hooks a a, an intermediate tongue or extension, I), and a dovetailed extension, 0. B represents the frame-pieces, which are constructed with molded edges (1, which fit into the hooks to, and serve as a connection to fasten the framepieces together, and also as guideways for the plates. Said frame-pieces B have also central longitudinal grooves G, in which the tongue b slides, for the purpose of maintaining the weight of leaves. The dovetail extensions 0 are attached to the middle of the plate A, on the side opposite the extension or tongue I), and are rigidly fastened to the frame-pieces B in the holes 8, which are bored in the ends of the frame-piece B, and the dovetailed extensions fastened therein by plugs, the dovetailed extension of the plate attached to one frame-piece being in alignment with the movable tongue of the plate attached to the next frame-piece.

I am aware of the fact that double T- shaped plates, and also plates with hooked ends and intermediate tongues have been used; but these require to be fastened to the wood by means of screws. I, therefore, disclaim these and confine myself to the particular construction of my device, whereby the use of screws is dispensed with.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is The plate A, having hooks a, tongue I), and dovetail'extension c, in combination with the frame-pieces B, having holes 8, in which said dovetail-extensions are fastened by plugs, substantially as and for the purpose described.
