LNGERIE-STRAP HOLDER.
Application nled December 1, 1928. l Serial No. 151,974.
This linvention relates to lingerie strap holders and more particularly to a device for securing the shoulder 'straps of lingerie to the overlying portion of the dress which is of such construction that it will not produce a bulge or hump on the apparely and thus cause an unsightly appearance and will, at the same time, firmly secure the shoulder strap against dislodgment.
l A further `and more specific object of the invention is to provide a-deviceof this character including a clasp fori receiving and holding the shoulder straps vand a pm' pivotally connected with this strap adapted to pin into theshoulder seam of the dress and thus hold the clasp and accordingly the straps against movement, this pin being directed transversely of the clasp so that it is much more readily engaged with or disengaged from the dress and is properly positioned for engagement in this seam, which provides t-he only possible anchorage point for the clasp. l
These and other objects We attain by the 25,construction shown in the accompanying drawing, wherein for the purpose of illus tration is shown .a preferred embodiment of our invention and Wherein:-
Figure 1 is a plan view' of the shoulder portion of a garment indicating a strap holder constructed in accordance with our invention' in position th-ereheneath Figure 2 is a section on the line 22 ofv is a, section on the line 3 3 of ich is provided with a small pressed head 13 producing a button which will engage in the' recess 12 and be 50 held in engagement therewith by the natural.
resiliency of the material'to prevent disen- -whereby the pin is pivotally connected With gagement of the ends of the clasp. 'llhe material of the strip is longitudinally slit at transversely aligning points 14 adjacent opposite side edges thereof and the metal of the strip deformed at opposite sides .of these slits, so that a guiding eye is produced through which may be directed one arm 15 of a` safety pin, generally designated at 16. lThis arm is preferablyv the head bearing arm of the safety pin andv` is extended through theJ eye before the head 17 is applied to the pin, so that the safetyv pin cannotl escape from the eye.A By this arrangement, the pin 16 is extended transversely-'of the clasp 10 andA pivotally connected therewith, so that it may swing 'down and lie iiatly against ,the'upp-er face of the band. llt is also positioned, so that it may be directed transversely through the Seam S formed in the-shoulder portion of a garment G with., much greater facility than it could .Were it directed longitudinally of the clasp. Furlil thermore, the clasp is so -poi ltioned, with respect to the pin by this construction, that there is no interference With the lingers by the clasp When the pin is being fastened'.
Since the construction hereinbefore set forth is capable of a certain range of change and modification Without materially .departing from thespirit of the invention, We do not limit ourselves to such specificstructure except as hereinafter claimed.
We claim l. In combination With a metallic strip formed to provide a clasp for receiving and holding the shoulder straps of undergarments, the material of the strip'being longitudinally slit at transversely aligned points lying intermediate the ends of the strip, the 9" metal `of the strip at opposite sides of said slits being oppositely deformed to thereby provide wan eye and a safety pin having anv arm vthereof direct/ed through said eye Q l l) and extends transversely of the clasp.
2.- In combination With a metallic strip formed to provide a clasp for receiving and holding the shoulder 'straps of undergan ments, the material of the strip being longitudinally slit at transversely aligned points lying intermediate the ends of the strip, the metal of the strip at opposite sides of seid slits being oppositely deformed to therebyprovde an eye and .a safety pin having `an arm thereof directed through said eye whereby the pin ispivotally connected with and exten-ds transversely of the olas the armof said pin directed through said Mesem eye lbearing the head of the 'safety pin whereby'the safety pin srendered memovable from the eye. f
lIii-testimony whereof we hereunto aix our signatures.- .l 'Y
