BILL, 01 LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. GONTAIIIER. Application filed March 22,1926. Serial No. 96,557.
My invention is a container intended for use particularly in marketing bottled goods or the like in which the container forms a protective wrapping and also comprises a circular or the like descriptive of the goods.
glued forming a tightcovering to which the Ph covers of th An object of my invention is to form a container to be used in selling bottled goods such as proprietary medicines or the like, in which a descriptive circular is wound around the bottle and ing a covering, this by caps inserted over covering being closed the ends of the cover so formed and secured preferably by gluing or the like.
A further object of my invention is to form a descrptive circular with preferably a covering material and provide this with a glued edge so that when the circular is wound around the bottle the edge may be caps may be attached.
1y container is preferably suited to round bottles so that when the circular is wound on the bottle it forms a cylinder. One of circular or additional covermg sheets is slightly longer than the main part of thecircular or pamphlet so that the edge may be glued. A corrugated cardboard forming a protection for the neck of the bottle is inserted in one end of the container and caps are fitted over the capped circular forming closures for each end.
M invention will be more readily understood from the following description and drawings, in which;
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my container in its completed form. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken substantially on the line 2--2 of Fig. 1, showing the container with a bottle therein.
Fig. -3 is a horizontal section on the line of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the circular or pamphlet rolled into a cylinder and secured by a glued edge.
Fig. 5 illustrates in perspective, a pre ferred way of makin the circular or .pamphlet with a remova 1e cover forming the outside of the finished package.
My invention is particularly adapted for the merchandising of bottled goods in which a bottle is indicated by the numeral 1 having a base 2, side Walls 3, a shoulder 4 and a neck portion 5 with a cap 6. It is prefpasted together, formerable to use circular bottles when my type of container is utilized.
he container structure is formed from a pamph et or descriptive circular designated by the numeral 7 and particularly shown in Fig. 5.
tive matter in the bottle or other suitable matter and has front and back cover sheets 9 and 10. The whole pamphlet is preferably secured together by staples 11 in. the usual manner.
It is desirable to have one of the cover leaves slightly longer than the other as indicated by the numeral 12, this extension aving glue or cement or the like formed thereon to be utilized as hereunder set forth. I find it desirable to make the covers of waxed tissue paper so that the advertising matter on the'outside of the pamphlet may be read through suclrpaper. 'However; this is optional. One of the reasons for using the extra cover sheets is so that these ma be torn ofl if they are mutilated before the goods are opened.
he circular or pamphlet is rolled around the bottle forming a cylindrical wrapping such as shown in Fig. 4; this figure indicating the bottle as being removed or if desired the circular may be rolled on a mandrel having substantially the same size as the bottle. The circular is then cemented at the portion indicated by the numeral 13 in Figs. 1 and 4:. After the circular is rolled on the bottle the corrugated end section 14 formed of corrugated cardboard or the like is inserted in the end preferably resting on the shoulders 4 of the bottle or if the bottle is inserted after the circular is rolled. this corrugated portion may subsequently be inserted. The lower and upper caps 15 and 16 are then fitted over the ends of the circular. These caps preferably have a flat side 17 and a flange 18 being thus cupshaped. The flanges are preferably glued to the outside cover of the pamphlet or circular, thus forming a substantial while compact container with the advertising matter included.
It is usual where bottled goods especially such as proprietary medicine are marketed in cartons to include either advertising circulars orother matter descriptive of the use of the drug. With my container it is not necessary to use a carton, thereby reducing ceptacle, a container formed of a circular the bulk of the package and eliminating or pamphlet comprising a plurality of the cost of the outside container. leaves, staples securing said leaves in one It will be apparent that my container may end, the free end of one of the outside be utilized for other shape bottles than leaves being cemented to the outside of the round, it merely being necessary to havethe Wrapped circular or pamphlet, and caps havcaps of the proper shape to fit the rolled ing'flanges,theflanges being cemented to the a descriptive circular after being Wrapped on outside of the circular or pamphlet forming the bottles.
