While "I hate 'tles'c1ibetl' i'ancl illustrated the invention as applied to a rad-io receiving set, it is obvious that it may be used in connection with any series of rotatable elements which it is desired to control simultaneously. The specific details of construction may be also considerably modified without any material departure from the salient features of the invention as set forth in the claims.
What is claimed is:
1. The combination with a panel and a plurality of dials rotatably mounted thereon, of a plurality of brackets :secured to the panel and extending forwardly therefrom, arms pivotally connected to the brackets to swing toward and away from the panel, a shaft journaled in said arms, frictional wheels secured on said shaft, swinging means acting on said arms to cause said friction wheels normally to bear against the respective dials, means for rotating said Shaft to cause said dials to rotate in unison when engaged by said wheels, a second shaft mounted for rocking movement in said brackets and having cam slots adjacent the rear edges of said arms, and means for rocking said second shaft to cause the edges of said slots to engage the arms and move the latter forwardly in opposition to said spring means, thereby disengaging the friction wheels from the dials.
2. The combination with a plurality of rotatable dials arranged side by side, of a unit control device therefor, comprising a shaft disposed transversely in front of the dials, friction wheels secured on the shaft, parallel arms in which the shaft is journaled, spring means acting on said arms to cause said friction wheels normally to bear against the respective dials, a second shaft mounted for rocking movement and having cam slots adjacent the rear edges of said arms, and means for rocking said second shaft to cause the edges of said slots to engage the arms and move the latter forwardly in opposition to said spring means, thereby disengaging the friction'wheels from the dials.
3. The combination with a plurality of rotatable dials arranged side by side, of a unit control device therefor, comprising a shaftdisposed transversely in front of the dials, arms in which the shaft is journaled, said arms being disposed in parallel vertical planes, a plurality of friction wheels, each having a hub secured to the shaft and inclividually adjustable lengthwise of said shaft,
spring means acting on said arms to cause said friction wheels normally to bear against the respective dials, a. second shaft mounted for rocking movement and having cam slots adjacent the rear edges of said arms, and means for rocking said second shaft to cause the edges of said slots to engage the arms and move the latter forwardly in opposition to said spring means, thereby disengaging the friction wheels from the dials.
f. The combination with a panel and a plurality of dials rotatably mounted thereon, of a plurality of brackets secured to the panel and extending forwardly therefrom, arms pivotally connected to the brackets to swing toward and away from the panel, a shaft journaled in said-arms, friction wheels secured on said shaft, yieldable means acting on the arms to cause said friction wheels normally to engage the respective dials, and means for swinging all of said arms forwardly in unison to disengage the friction wheels from the dials.
5. The combination with a panel and a plurality of dials rotatably mounted thereon, of a plurality of brackets secured to the panel and extending forwardly therefrom, arms pivotally connected to the brackets to swing toward or away from the panel, a shaft journaled in said arms, friction wheels secured on the shaft, spring means acting on said arms to cause the friction wheels normally to bear against the respective dials, a second shaft mounted for rocking n'i-ovement and disposed in parallel relation to the first shaft, said second shaft havin cam slots adjacent the rear edges of said arms, and means for rocking said second shaft tocause the edges of said slots to engage the arms and move the latter forwardly in opposition to said spring means, thereby disengaging the friction wheels from the dials.
(3. The combination with a panel a'nd a plurality of dials rotatably mounted thereon, of a plu 'ality of l 'ackets secured to the panel and extending forwardly therefrom, arms pivotally connected to the brackets to swing in planes perpendicular to the panel, a shaft journaled in said arms, said brackets having arcuate slots in which said shaft moves the arms are swung ontheir pivots, a plurality of friction wheels, each having a hub secured to the shaftand individually adjustable lengthwise of said shaft, a pin extending laterally from each arm, a spring secured to the panel adjacent each arm and bearing against said pin to urge the respective arms toward the panel to cause the friction wheels to engage the respective dials, a second shaft mounted for rocking movement and having cam slots adjacent the rear edges of said arms, and means for rocking said second shaft to cause the edges of said slots to engage the arms and move the latter forwardly in opposition to said springs, thereby disengaging the friction wheels from the dials.
