UNITE STATES .EDWARD HENRY PINTO, OF WEST HAMPSTEAD, LONDON, ENGLAND.
GARMENT-SUSPENSION FITTING FOR CLOTHING CABINETS.
Application filed MayS, 1926, Serial No. 106,583, and. in Great Britain June 12, 1925.
This invention relates to fittings for clothing cabinets for holding garments and the like of the kind provided with rods on which trousers or other garments are suspended, said rods being carried by a frame slidabiy mounted in the cabinet.
According to this invention the suspension rods are caused to open laterally or sideways as and when the sliding frame is drawn towards the front of the cabinet.
To carry out this invention a fixed lid or cover in the cabinet is provided on its underside with a series of grooves running from back to front of the. cabinet in such a manner that they converge towards the front. The garment suspension rods are pivotally mounted in a sliding frame and their inner ends are provided with pins which engage in the grooves in the fixed lid or cover in the cabinet.
As the sliding frame is drawn towards the front of the cabinet the rods will, by means of the pins and grooves, be turned on their v pivots and their outer ends spread or opened out.
In the accompanying drawings Fig. 1 is an under plan view, partly broken away, of my invention- Fig. 2 is a plan view of the sliding frame.
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the device parts being shown in section for the sake of clearness.
In these drawings, A is the fixed lid or cover in the cabinet on the underside of which are formed said grooves B, the front ends of said grooves being inwardly inclined shown at B. C are the suspension rods pivoted at C on a cross-piece or sliding frame D which is adapted to be moved backwards and forwards in fixed side pieces D on the cabinet. Each rod C is provided at its rear end with a pin C which engages in one of the grooves B in the fixed lid or cover A. The cross-piece or sliding frame D is provided with a fixed rod E by which it is moved backwards or forwards.
As the frame D and rods O are moved forward the pins C will, by the converging B of the grooves B, cause the forward ends of the rods C to diverge, thereby spreading or opening out the garments. M
I claim:
1. A suspension fitting for a cabinet having a fixed lid or cover, said fitting comprising a frame slidably mounted in the cabinet: rods mounted in said frame, and enclined grooves in the fixed lid or cover of the cabinet in which grooves the rods engage so as to be caused to diverge or open outwards when drawn towards the front of the cabinet.
2. A suspension fitting for a cabinet having a fixed lid or cover, said fitting comprising a frame slidably mounted in the cabinet, rods mounted in said frame, pins on said rods, and enclined grooves in the fixed lid or cover of the cabinet in which grooves the pins on the rods engage so as to cause the rods to diverge or open outwards when drawn towards the front of the cabinet.
3. A suspension fitting for a cabinet having a fixed lid or cover, said fitting comprising a frame slidably mounted in the cabinet, rods pivotally mounted in said frame, pins on said rods, and inclined grooves in the fixed lid or cover of the cabinet in which grooves the pins on the rods engage so as to cause the rods to'diverge or open outwards when drawn towards the front of the cabinet.
A. A suspension fitting for a cabinet having a fixed lid or cover, said fitting comprising a frame slidably mounted in the cabinet, rods pivotally mounted in said frame, pins on said rods, and inclined grooves in the fixed lid or cover of thecabinet converging towards the front of the cabinet in which grooves the pins on the rods engage so as to cause the rods to diverge or open outwards when drawn towards the front of the cabinet.
in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 14th day of April, 1926.
EDl/VARD HENRY PINTO.
