IMPROVEMENT IN MILK-CONDUCTORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent'No. 161,889, dated'April 13, 1875; application filed December 10, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EGBERT MACY, of Brooklyn, State of New Yorkfhave invented an Improvement in Milk-Conductors, ot' which the following is a specification This invention consists of an apparatus to be attached to a door, gate, or partition, in such a manner that the customer may be served with milk at any time Without being in attendance to receive it.
Another object of this invention is to provide a spout or conductor easy ot adjustment for use, and ot' removal for the purpose of being cleaned.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a vertical, and Fig. 2 a horizontal, section ot' a door or partition with my apparatus attached.
S is a spout or conductor, made ot' metal or other suitable material. D is a door or partition, through which the milk is to be conducted. O is an outer, and I an inner, plate ot' metal, secured to the door. These plates have an opening through them to correspond with the form of the conductor or spout. In order that the spout may be securely held in its place when in use, and to compensate for the difference in thickness of doors, I have adopted, as one plan or device, the notched projection N upon the under side of the spout or conductor, in combination with the sharp or angular edge of the inner door-plate at e. There are` also two ribs or stops, 'r i", upon the outer door-plate7 to prevent the spout from tilting when in its proper position. H is a hook, forming a part of the spout, upon which a pail may be hung to receive the milk. C is a cover or lid, which is secured to the outer door-plate by means ot' a hinge, h, at the bot tom, and'any suitable lock at the top, as at t.
The milk-dealer has only to open the cover C, and pour the milk into the spout at I), and it Will pass through the spout into a vessel placed to receive it.
The spout can be used as a deposit for money or tickets.
I claim as my invention- 1. The adjustable conductor or spout, with compensating device, substantially as described.
2. The removable conductor or spout, in combination with the outer and inner doorplates, substantially as described.
3. The notched projection on the under side of the conductor or spout, in combination With the sharp edge ot' the inner door-plate, and the ribs or steps on the outer door-plate, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
