I provide means to retain the members 9 and 10 from rotation when the retainer is being fitted within the outlet. I have shown the members 9 and 10 provided with holes l2, near their outer ends, adapted to receive the prongs 13 on a resilient tool or holder 14, which ma)7 be made of wire bent as illustrated in Fig. 6 to providetwo parallel arms 14 extending from the bent portion 14a, having two lateral portions 14h carrying the prongs 13, the prongs 13 being bent at the free ends of the arms in a direction substantially transverse tothe plane of the arms, so that when the prongs 13 are located in the holes 12 of the members 9 and l0 the retainer will be supported by aaid holder ll. The arms of the tool will move laterally when the attached memberst)` lll move relatively to block 5.
When the device is to he applied lo au outlet the members i) and ill are screwed into the block 5 sulliriently l'ar lo perniil said members to enter the outlet and said members are mounted upon the holder ll, the prongs of the latter entering the holes of said members,`whereupon the latter may be placed transversely within the outlet to the desired depth and can he retained hy hand in desired positiom and the tool or Wrench Will he usyl to rotate the block 5 and the holder 1l will retain the members El and l() from rotation. The rotation of block o with respect to they retained memu hers l) and 10 will cause the latter to travel outwardly respectingr the block and toward the opposing walls ot' the outlet into engagement With the latter, and suliicient pressure ol: the members against the Walls of the outlet .may be eileeted to cause the block to he retained by the expansion or elongation et the retainer, so that the latter will be snspended Within the outlet. The block 5 will be left in a position with its threaded bere or hole 5 extendingr in the direction ot the axis of the outlet and this may he acconr plished, if necessary, by individually rotating;r the members 9 and l()R slightly, h v means of the holder lel while the final position ot the block heilig elleeted. Alfter the re.` tainer has been secured within the outlet the strainer l will be planted over the outlet and the screw '1l will he passed through the hole il of the strainer and screwed into the hole 5 of the retainer to seenre the `strainer over the outlet, as illustrated in Fig. 2. By means ol the right and left hand connection `of members 9 and i() with the retainer bloei:
5 the hole 5 in said block will always he brought to a substantially central or axial position respecting;r the outlet when the re tainer is beingr fitted Within the latter', so that the hole 5 of bleek 5 Will be in a position to receive the screw 1l extending,r from the strainer irrespective of the extent el projmftiou ol the member.l l) and Al0 out wardly from block $3.
The arrangement described permits the application ot a retainer with its adjustable members withinfoutlets of dill'erent trans verse dimensions, Within limits ol the retainer, `and permits the ready removal oi the retainer from an outlet when desired hy merely holding the members Si and lll Vfrom rotation and unscrewing the block respectin el the latter.
l\ly invention is simple and cheap to manufacture can he readily applied to and rcmoved from an outlet, and permits the rtrainer readily lo he appliedand removed while the rotaimr remains secured within the outlet and without disturbing the re tainer in any manner,
Changes may be made in (he, details oli mmstruction set forth, within the -scope olf the appended claims` without departing from the spirit ot my invention.

LA device of the character described comprising a perforated strainer to tit over an outlet, a retainer lo be .fitted Within the outlet comprisingl a block provided with members at opposite ends to engage opposite sides of the outlet7 said bloei; and members having' cooperative threads lier causing outward and inward movement ol the members relatively to the block, the block being;` provided with a threaded transverse here, and a screw to engage the strainer and the threaded bore in the block to retain the strainer over the outlet.
2. A device as set forth in claim l`v in which the cooperative threads between the block and members are respectively right and lelt hand at opposite ends oi" the block.
