Lens?- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
FRITZ TOEWE, BERLIN, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, A
' I CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
MULTIPLE RECEIVING Davies;
Application filed l'u-ly 27, 1925, Serial No. 46,273, and in Germany August 1, 1924.
My present invention relates to a multiple receiving device for connecting several radio head sets or loudspeakers in series.
It is an object of my invention to provide 'a multiple receiving device inwhich the pairs of contacts or jacks which are inactive are not necessarily short circuited.
The novel features which I believe to be characteristic of my invention are set forth with particularity in the appended claim. My invention itself, both as to its organization and method of operation will best be understood .from the following specification taken in connection with the accompanying drawing in which Fig.1 shows a View partly in elevation and partly in cross section; Fig. 2 shows a plan view partly broken away, and Fig. 3 shows the circuit connections whereby .my invention may be carried into effect.
. Referring to the drawing, I have shown seven pairs of jacks or contacts, each of which consist of an inner or upper jack a or a, and an outer or lower jack 6, the
' pairs of jacks-being mounted, on a wooden casing F, which may be constructed in any manner desired, and disposed on radial lines. The pairs of jacks-a b are designated by a plate marked To the receiver, while the other pairs of jacks are designated by plates numbered 1-6 inclusive. In addition to these pairs of jacks there is provided a single jack a/f which serves for receiving a connecting plug (1 and which has no special t may be placed, if desired, in
line with the other jacks. Jack aof thepair of jacks for connecting the multiple receiver to the source of power is conduc tively connected with the plug d. Jacks b of the individual pairs of jacks are conductively connected with. the next following jack a, the one of the last pair being connected with the jack (1".
If the connecting plug 0 is introduced in; the pair of jacks,
identified by the plate To the receiver the head sets which may be connected to. pairs 1, 2, 3, for instance, will be connected in series for reception, when the plug (1 is placed in the jack on of the pair of jacks. If headsets are connected to each pair of jacks, all the head sets will be connected.
in serie's when this the last jack (2".
It is clear that'the upper and lower jacks may be interchanged with respect to the wiring. Various modifications of my invention will readily suggest themselves 'to' persons plug d introduced into set forth in pairs of contacts mounted on said casing and,
adapted to cooperate with receiving devices, the contacts of each pair being disposed on radial lines, and at diiferent distances from a central point on the casing to, provide inner and outer contacts, the outer.-
contacts of each pair being electrically connected to the inner contact of an adjacent pair, means for supplying current to one of said pairs of contacts, and means connected to one of the contacts of said last mentioned pair' of contacts and adapted to engage one of thecontacts of each pair, whereby an skilled in the artwithout departing from electric circuit may be selectively completed through a desired number of receiving devices.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of July 1925. FRITZTOEWE.
