IBI'SCUIT-DISPLAY CASE.

rlhis invention relates to display cases or cabinets as used for displaying biscuits in stores and for providing for the dispensing of the biscuits.

The objects of the invention are to provide a case of this kind which will display the biscuits to the best advantage while at the same time keep them in the best condition, so that they will not quickly become stale tho the case is frequently opened for selling small quantities of the goods.

We achieve the desired objects in the biscuit Idisplay ca'se shown in the accompanying drawings and in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of our case with biscuit packages shown in position, Figure 2kis a vertical cross section through the case showino' the humiditying device at the bottom of.D the same, and Figure 3 is a section of Figure 2 taken along the line 3-3 thereof.

Our improved case comprises a body havin two ends as at 1 joined by a top 2 bottom Siack 4 and lower front wall 5. The front of the case is slanted so as to present the face of the device squarely to the view of a customer viewing the wares therein and is closed by a pairof sliding doors 6 and 7 retained in suitable guides 8 and 9. The doors lie one ov'er the other and a felt or rubber-sealing strip is inserted in either of the door frames as at 10 so to seal the space between them necessary for free sliding.v y

Within thecase are shallow shelves 11 with a stop 12 adapted to receive and position a number of standard boxes 13 of biscuits as sold by the rocer trade.

In our cagbinet ere shown it is one of the obj ects to facilitate Idispensing of the biscuits and the standard boxes are referably without lids, and also are spaced back :from the doors so that a free space exists above them.

A free space also exists in back of the boxes as shown in Figure 2 and the boxes are fairly loose so that the air within can circulate between the boxes.- p l The boxes are thus maintained with open faces aligned at the same angle as the slanted front of the case and are instantly available by slidinflr the doors. l

Beneath the bottom 3 is a drawer .14 slidably supported in a chute 15 and accessible at the lower front of the case'for pulling out.

The bottom 3 of the case is offset at 3 as shown and the chute and drawer extend back beyond the offset to permit free access of air to the drawer when closed as indicated.A by the small arrows in Figure 2.

Above the drawer the bottom 3 is slotted at 16 and another slot 17 connects this slot forming a free passageway into the caseby way of the drawer.

The slot 17 is centrally disposed within the case so as to be concealed by the door frames and to come between two boxes of biscuitsthe lower row of boxes being separated to right and left suiiiciently to clear both sides of the slot.

n Within the drawer is placed a tray or lining 18 preferably enameled and removable for washing, and which in use is partially filled wlth Water 19 so that the' air in passing over the water will carry aqueous vapor to the interior of the case as indicated by Qthe arrows.

The drawer may be pulled out for ascertainin the condition of the water or for replenis ing the same as it evaporates.

With the arrangement described it is found that the biscuits tho attractively "displayed in open boxes and ready for dispensing without the tedious removal of lids are at the same time preserved in the proper humid condition so as not to become stale and brittle, the interior of the cabinet being of course suitably nameled to prevent its absorption ofmoisure.

Therefore, while we show the preferred form of our display case in the drawings we vwish `it understood that such modications as may fall within the'scope of the invention are intende-d to be covered in our appended claims.

We claim:

A biscuit display case comprising av cabinet having an elevated bottom and adapted to hold a plurality of'boxed biscuits in assemblage for display, a door for accessibility of the-biscuits sealing the cabinet when closed, a water holding drawer slidably mounted under the bottom of the cabinet accessible at the front of the cabin'et, said drawer having a' solid closed front and provided with a rear end wall spaced below the bottom of the cabinet whereby air may freely pass into and over the drawer from the rear of the cabinet and through an opening formed in the bottom of the cabinet above the drawer.
