The invention relates to new anduseful improvements in jar particularly having a straight An object of closures, and more to a jar closure for a` glass jar outer side wall.

In carrying out the invention, I provide a closure preferably of metal, which vincludes a top portion, a depending portion extend- '35 ing along close to the outer side wall of wardly projecting portion,

This forms a very ef cient seal for the Aclot-ure forthe jar and at the same time, through the adherence of the sealing materialvto the wallof the jar, holds the closure firmly on the jar. It will be note sealed without reforming or reshapingthe metal in any way. Closures hereto-fore, so far as l am aware, have all required some reshaping or bending of the metal parts.
