Description
tic springs attached to the curved brackets, suitably secured to the bottom of the wagon. Said brackets are arranged in pairs, one pair to each spring, and the springs are so distributed that two are located on the rear axle at right angles therewith, and one on the bolster in line therewith.
It is well known that in case of the breakage of the dash or foot boards, which frequently occurs, their repairing or renewal necessitates the damage of the whole frontrof the body in renewing that portion of the frameworksupportingtheseparts. Bymakingthem in independent parts, however, they can be renewed without interfering at all with the wagon-body.
I claim as my inventionl. The sideboards provided with dovetailed grooves on their outer faces, in combination with the standards C C, securely attached to the sills B B, and provided with dovetailed tenons on their inner faces, by means of which the side-boards may readily be removed, and at the same time the employment of bolts and nuts dispensed with, substantially as described. 2. In a wagon-body, the combination of the hinged foot-board F, having lugs G and supporting-chains H, with the removable dashboard I, the latter being adapted to hold the foot-board in a vertical position by resting on the lugs G, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
