In use with the tube 8 in place upon the wound strands of hair, as shown in Fig. 1. for example, the jaws and 16 are opened as shown in Fig. 8 and placed upon the lower end of the tube which is received between the pivoted ends of the jaws and the ears 1S and 19. From the foregoing it will now be apparent that the device is simple and that it firmly grips the tube upon the hair. It is released without. additional tools and with out breaking the fingernails or pulling the hair and it holds the tube firmly in place.

I claim:

1. A fastening device comprising a pair of jaw members hinged together, a pair of finger pieces at the free ends of said jaw members, cooperating ears on said jaw members between their hinged connection and said finger pieces, and a detent pivoted on one side of one of said jaw members to swing laterally with respect thereto and having means at one end for co-engagement with the ear on the other jaw member and a finger piece at its opposite end for releasing the detent.

2. A fastening device for a hair waving tube comprising a pair of relatively thin, flat jaw members hinged together, a pair of finger pieces at the free ends of said jaw members, cooperating ears on said jaw members between their hinged connection and said finger pieces, one of said ears having a Series of apertures disposed in arcuate order about the hinged connection between said jaw members as a center, a detent arm pivoted on one side of the other jaw member and swingable laterally with respect thereto, a detent on said arm for engagement with said apertures, and a spring urging said detent into engagement with said apertures.

A fastening device {or hair waving tubes con'iprising a pair of jaw members hinged together, a pair of linger pieces at the outer ends of said jaw mei'nbers, to operating ears on said aw members between their hinged connection and said linger pieces. and a detent pivoted on one side of one of said jaw members to swing laterally with respect thereto and having means at one end for co-engagement with the car on the other jaw member, and a finger piece at its opposite end for releasing the detent, said jaw members being adapted to be opened to receive a heating tube between their pivoted ends and said cooperating ears, and said ears having a wedge-like action upon closing the jaws to clamp the tube fi mly thcrebetween.

(3. A fastening device for hair waving tubes comprising a pair of jaw members hinged together, a pair of finger pieces at the outer ends of said jaw members, cooperating ears on said jaw members between their hinged connection and said linger pieces, and a detent pivoted on one side of one of said jaw members to swing laterally w th respect thereto, having means for coengagement with the ear on the other jaw member, said jaw members being adapted to be opened to receive a heating tube between their pivoted ends and said cooperating ears, and said ears having a wedge-like action upon closing the jaws to clamp the tube firml v therebetween, and a marginal extension on one of said ears turned back over the other ear to guide said ears into proper cooperation and to prevent lateral separation of said cars.
