ELECTRIC GRILL.
This invention relates to improvements in the construction of electric grills, and more particularly to the method of supporting the top plate from the base.
The object of this invention is to provide a rigid and simple assembly oi the top and bottom plates with the supporting legs. A further object is to provide such an assembly in which the usual rivet connection between legs and top plate is dispensed with. Another object is to provide a leg and bot tom plate assembly in which a single rivet is employed to hold the fiber foot and the leg to the bottom plate. A particular feature of the construction according to this invention is the fact that a single rivet is employed for securing the assembly of top plate, bottom plate, leg, and fiber foot in rigid interrelation.
With these and other objects in view, as will appear in the course of the following specification and claims, one form of execution of this invention is shown on the accompanying drawing, in which:

Fig. 3 is a perspective view, showlng the form of the leg and the bracket.
This electric grill has a top plate T and a bottom plate B of any desired general conformation, but each having preferably substantially cylindrical portions designated at 13 and 14:. The lower rim of the top plate has an outwardly directed flange 15, an the bottom section has a corresponding flange 16.
Three legs L are provided to connect and hold the top and bottom plates T and B in spaced relation. These legs have the perforated ears 18 at the lower ends, and are bent substantially into a horizontal plane at 19 near the upper end, with an upwardly directed tab 20 projecting therefrom; the ear and the tab are of alesser width than the rest of the leg. A bracket C is provided for each of the legs L, and has the tab 17 at the top, with a horizontal portion 21 conforming to the horizontal portion 19 of the leg, and having a short vertical portion 22 which terminates in inwardly and then downwardly bent sections 23 and 24.

The top plate T has three slots 10 therein of a length and width to receive the tabs 20 and 17, as shown in Fig. 2, which exactly fit each other, and when the rebates 25, 26 on the respective members are presented against the cylindrical wall of the top plate, and the leg rocked downward into its final position as shown on the drawin s, the leg and the bracket support each other in invariable relation mutually and with regard to the top plate T.
The bottom plate B likewise has three slots 27 of a length and width to receive the ears 18.
In assembling the grill the legs L and brackets G are hooked into the top plate, and then rocked inward, and the ears 18 are passed through the respective slots'27 in the bottom plate B. The fiber feet 30 are then placed between the ears 18 and the inner, substantially cylindrical wall of the bottom plate B, and a rivet 31 passed through the perforation in the ear, a hole in the fiber foot, and a hole in the bottom plate, and clinched down to hold the entire assembly in rigid and invariable relation.
The cheapness and efiiciency of the construction, the ease of assembly, and the neatness of the parts when assembled are important advantages of the device. The grill may be operated with vessels or articles placed upon its top in the usual way, or broiling or roasting may be accomplished by use of a pan P which is supported at its peripheral edge R, as shown in dotted lines 111 Fig. 2, upon the portion 23 of the top d clip, and guided by the vertical section 2% 01 the same.
Obviously, changes may be made in the form of construction within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
1. In an electric grill, a top plate having slots in its substantially cylindrical walls, a bot-tom plate having slots in substantially vertical alinement with the position of the slots in the top plate, legs having a body width greater than the length of the slots, tabs and ears on the respective upper and lower ends of said legs adapted to be received in the slots, said tabs having rebates adjacent thereto adapted to prevent movement between said legs and the top plate,
pan supporting brackets bent to conform with the upper ends of said legs, and terminating at a point spaced from the lower edge of said top plate in an inwardly bent flange, said brackets being located individually parallel to one of said legs, each of said brackets having a tab to pass through the cor responding slots in said top plate, said brackets being held in rigid position by said slots and legs to support a flanged utensil beneath said top plate, and a rivet passing through the ear on the lower end of each of said legs and the bottom plate to hold the assembly in rigid and invariable relation.
2. in an electric grill, a top plate having slots therein, a bottom plate having slots therein, legs having a body width greater than the length of the slots and end portions thereon of a width to be received in the slots and bent to engage the walls of said plates, pan supporting brackets bent to conform with the upper ends of said legs and having tabs to pass through the corresponding slots in said top plates, each of said brackets terminating at its bottom in an inwardly directed flange in spaced relation to the lower edge of said top plate, said brackets being held in rigid position by said slots and legs, and rivets to secure said legs rigidly to the bottom plate.
3. In an electric grill, a top plate, a bottom plate, one of said plates having a hole therein, a leg having a body of greater dimension than the hole, said leg having a reduced end receivable in the hole, said reduced end being bent to grip the plate between the bent portion and the rebate at the point of said reduction, a pan supporting bracket located parallel and in contact with the flat side of each of said legs, being shaped at its edges and bent to conform thereto and having a tab to pass through a hole in the top plate, said brackets being held in rigid position by said legs and the hole in the top plate, and means to secure said leg to the other plate.
4. In an electric grill, a top plate having slots therein, a bottom plate having slots therein in substantially vertical alinernent with the position of the slots in the top plate, legs having a body width greater than the length of the slots and end portions of a width to be received in the slots, brackets having tabs of a width to be re ceived in the slots of the top plate and presenting shoulders to prevent movement of said bracket with regard to said top plate when in assembled position, said legs and brackets cooperating at their shoulders and by their bent edges to maintain a fixed relation with the top plate, fiber feet, and rivets passing through each of the legs and the bottom plate to secure the fiber feet therebetween and hold the assembly in fixed and invariable relation.
5. In an electric grill, a top plate having a slot therein, a bottom plate, a leg having a reduced end receivable in said slot, said end being bent to conform to said top plate, a bracket having a reduced end receivable in said slot and conforming to the shape of said leg, and means to hold said leg in rigid and invariable relation with said bottom plate, whereby said leg. and bracket mutually support each other in and maintain th position of said top plate.
