IMPROVEMENT I-N MATCH-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 161,127, dated March 23, 1875; application filed December 28, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, JOHN KNOX, ot' Auburn, Oayu ga county, in the State of New York, have invented an Improved Match-Safe, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l of drawing is a sectional elevation; Fig. 2, a top View; and Figs. 3, 4, horizontal sections.
A represents a slotted shell, which receives head B, which has a groove, h, in one end,and at the other a head, G, open in the center, to receive internal cylinder C, and having a side notch, g, to receive pusher F. The cylinder O has longitudinal grooves for the matches, and is attached to a swiveled pin in one end, and fastened at the other on an internal projection of cap H. It also has a ratchet, l), in which Works the fixed spring-pawl, to prevent it from turning backward.
The caps G H may be removed and the grooves illed with matches, while a further supply may be kept inside cylinder O. I is a friction spring, which, in conjunction with guard J, ignites the match as itis thrown out by the pusher, that moves up out of notch g below the cylinder O.
What I claim is- The combination of slotted outer shell A, grooved cylinder C, head G, having notch g, head B, provided with friction-outlet I J, and sliding pusher F, all as specified.
