'Application siea'apri e, i926.Y semi nascenti.
The present inventionl relates to sample boxes, traveling bags, trunks or other cases, and has forl its object-to provide the same with means for holdingan exchangeable sign such as a label or card containing the name and address of the addressee or that of the sender orv the like.
Particularly with cases such as sampleV boxes which are designed for repeated usethrough the mail itliashitlierto been necessaryv or every other sender to remove the label of the previous sender and paste on aV l'new label or strike or scratch out the former address and write or print tlie'new. address. `This not only consumes time but after a short lwhile the appearance of the` case is spoiled and the latter has to be discarded.
According to my invention I provide the Y vbox with an inwardly yyielding pocket or from the voutside but which on the opening holder for a card, label or other sig'nfto `be` exposed through aiiopening in the box 'which vpocket or holder is not'. accessible V,of thecaseV will permit in a Vvery convenient and quick manner the exchange of the cards or labels.
I also providesuitable meanswhereby the c pocket or holder will ,be secured in position for use and prevent the slipping out or loss of the sign. v
In the present example I have shown my invention applied to a box shaped cardboard carton or case. It is, however, cleai'that the same may be used for similar purposes on cases of any other shape and material.
Une embodiment of my invention is il- Vlu'strated inv the accompanying drawing which'forms part of this specification and in which similar reference characters denote corresponding parts `Fig. l is a perspective view of a square cardboard case equipped with my device;
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. l; Y
Fig. 3 isy asection on the line 3-3 lof Fig. l; and
Fig. l is a bottom 4.view of my device. y In the drawing a denotes a square case suoli as is usually employed as a sample box andV which consists of a lower box shaped section al forming thecontainer proper and a box shaped upper section a? serving as cover. This cover is provided with a substantially' U-shaped incision a? to form a flap a? which is provided with a rectangular recess a5.
`Covering the rear of said flap and adaptedV o r/on a line parallel, to ythe foldable `ed'geof vthe flap a4 byrivets d or` the like tothe inner y face of the cover a2 is a second flap. which may be of similar material as that ofthe case. The latter in width and breadth is somewhat larger than thelap a4 so that it' overlaps the edges of the flap a, of the latter are xed along their marginal like, soV that .thetwo flaps thus joined can together swing inwardly and will form, a
sheath or pocket for the reception'of an ;l f
exchangeablelabel, icard or other signs s. The unattached longitudinal edge of the second flap Z may be provided centrally withv a linger piece or tab b1 and isadapted to` bedetachably fastened to the Vinner face `of thecover by suitable separablemeans such as snap fasteners 6, el, whereby the sheath or pocket will be secured in 'position of'use and The sidesk to be fixed along its upper longitudinaled/ge.- *Y
Ye5 Y' edges to the second Hap Z) by vrivets c or the hold the card ,'sftightly preventing its ac cidental displacement "in or slipping out from said pocket.:` Y v For ornamental ypurposes and to lendv the box a neater appearance and also 'for the purpose of Y reinforcement of theV pocketv when the box is made of cardboard orV the like, the outer face of the ap at has attached to it around its margins by means of rivets fla metal frame af. Covering Ytherecess a54 of theriiap a* is a transparent rshield m of mica or the like.
. It will ,be seenthat when the cover a2 1s slipped over the section aLl-and yas usual is strapped or tied to it thecard or label s is not accessible from the outside'of the case. The exchange of one label for another is comparatively easy, it being only necessaryV after opening the case to unfasten the snap fasteners e, el, and bend the pocket inwardly,
or rearwardly so as tok conveniently reach the card. Y. y l
SinceY various changes can be made in the construction of my device without departing from thevprinciple of my invention.
I do notwish to limit myself to the details 'described or shown claims. n
`What I claim isz- ,1, g .p
l. In a mailing or traveling case vhaving an opening for the exposure cfa sign, a
except as defined in the 'sign holderv including'an inwardly yieldingv Vsection vatl the rear of said opening forming an integralpartof said case and Ymeans for ioo locking said yielding section in operative inwardly yielding sign holder arranged inside said Ycase and composed oit' two interconnected sections of which one 1s an 1ntegra'l part of saidcese and means orholdy ing said sign holder rigidly in position of use and thereby secure the sign therein.
3. In a, mailing or traveling' case having an inwardly yielding sign holder arranged to said case at one of its longitudinal edges y and means for separeloly fastening theop-V posite longitudinal edge of seid second Section to said case for holding saidsign holder rigidly in position of ,use and thereby secure the sign therein;v v
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
