My invention relates to range boiler insulator casings and theV principal objects of the invention are to provide a'casrng comprising two complementary seml-cyllndrical members, preferably made of Wood, that are adapted to jointly encase the holler with a space between that is filled with a pulverized insulator material such as ground cork, asbestos, saw-dust, or the llke, to .prevent radiation of heat and thereby greatly increase the efliciency of the boiler. Other objects are to provide .a casing that may be readily installed and removed, that comprises means for preventing radiatlon from the top of the boiler, that 1s provided w1th means for retaining the insulator materlal in place, and which may be manufactured at comparatively small cost.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of the novel construction, adaptation, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed. These objects are accomplished bv devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is an outline view in elevation showing the-casino' installed on a boiler that is shown in dotted lines;
Fig. 2 is a view in elevation showing a boiler mounted within one of the semi-cylindrical members;
Fig. 3 is a view in perspective of one of said members;
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the complementary segmental cover members; and
Fig. 5 is a view in horizontal section taken substantially on a broken line 5, 5 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings throughout which like reference numerals designate like parts, the numeral 5 indicates a range boiler mounted on a stand 6. The casing comprises two semi-cylindrical members 7 and 8. The member 7 is preferably provided with tongues 9 on its vertical edges that lit within grooves 10 in the member 8. A round hole is provided in one side where said members join comprising complementary halves 11 that are cut in their edge portions. Said hole is for the passage of a pipe 12 that ordiy narily supplies hot water to the boiler.
Semi-annular complementary ring members 13, made of felt or other flexible material, are secured on the inner sides of the members 7 and 8 adjacent their bottoms for reasons presently set forth.

It will be understood that the inner diameter of said members is greater than the diameter of the boiler, and that the ring members 13 are adapted to tightly engage the boiler when the annular clamps 14: are tightened up as in Fig. 1. Said' space is completely filled from the top with any desired heat insulator 15 such as lground cork, pulverized asbestos, saw-dust or the like as clearly shown in Fig. 2. By reason of the top of the device being open said insulator material may be shaken down and packed tightly therein.
Asthe device projects above the boiler the insulator material 15 may completely cover the top of the boiler as in Fig. 2. It will here be seen that the tops of the members 7 and 8 are beveled inwardly and that a cover correspondingly beveled lits therein. Said cover comprises two segmentalmembers 16 and 17 that are preferably semi-circular and provided with a tongue 18 anda groove 19. Semi-circular slots provided in their divisional edge ortions that form holes 20 and 21 arrange to fit snugly around the hot water service pipes 22 and 23 when said segmental cover members are installed in place.
It will thus be'seen that the top andsides of the boiler are completely insulated against radiation and loss of heat. The bottom of the boiler may be somewhat exposed as this is the seat of the cold water and does not require insulation. I always prefer to make the device of wood for the reasons that same is light in Weight, neat in appearance, durable and easy to manipulate, and comparativel inexpensive to manufacture. Althou .the several members may be of solid woo construction, I prefer to make them either tongue and grooved or ofthe mul l tiple-ply vcneered construction.
Having thus described my invention, it being understood that such changes may be resorted to as are withinits scope and spirit, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:-
A range boiler insulator casing comprising two semi-cylindrical members, means for holding said lnembers snugly tofrether to form a cylindrical casing around the boiler,
a resilient closure member for the bottom ot' thespace between the casing and boiler, said closure member adapted to retain said casing on the boiler in spaced relation with its top projecting above the boiler, linely divided insulator material `lilling4 the space between the boiler and the casing and covering the top of the boiler, and a segmental cover adapted to serve as an equalizing spacer for the top of the casing.I v
