Description
Patented Dec. 7, 1926. 1
UNITED STATES,
PATENT OFFICE.
RICHARD WILHELM TERLINDEN, or JYvAsKYLA, FINLAND, nssrenoa TO THE FIRM: wrmr. scnnumnns raaso AKTIEBOLAG, or JYVASKYLA, FINLAND.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING IMITATION S OF WOODS OR INLAID WORK ON VARIOUS I MATRRIALS"BY THE AID OF TRANSFER WORK.
No Drawing.
In my former Patent Nr. 1,464,144 I have described a method for producing imitations of valuable woods and inlaid work on wood by the aid of transfer work. The presa spraying,,squirting or spattering appa ratus, and the surface of the material is thus adapted to firmly hold a film of colour later on applied thereto, As is well known zapon lacquer adheres very firmly even on polished metal surfaces. p I
In order to secure a good holding connection of thefilm of colour with the zaponized surface the transfer pictures produced according to my Patent 1,464,144 are finally varnished or printed with a special adhesive varnish, which for instance might consist of 65 parts of strong lithographic varnish,
'20 parts of liquid siccativeaiid one part of copal lacquer. The transfer on to the metal surface or other surface is carried out then in the same manner as is described in my said original patent, that is to say, with the application of pressure and heat. After the transfer has been carried out the film of Application filed November 7, 1925. Serial No. 67,704.
. colour is again hardened by a zapon lacquer applied by the aid of a squirting or spatter-- ing apparatus.
I claim:
1. A method for producing imitations of woods or inlaid work on metal, celluloid, galalith or other materials, comprising, coating the material with a film of zapon lacquer to adapt it for holding a film of colour, and applying to the coated surface a transfer picture that has had the face thereof coated with an adhesive varnish and then transfer-ring said picture to the said material.
2. A method for producing imitations of woods or inlaid work on metal, celluloid, galalith or, other materials according to claim 1, comprising the additional step that the coloured film is hardened after being transferred. by applying thereto a film .of zapon lacquer.
3. A method for producing imitations of woods, or inlaid ,work on metal, celluloid.
galalith or other materials according to 69 claim 1, characterized in this that the adhesive varnish consists of- .parts of strong lithographic varnish and 20 parts of liquid siccativ'e copal lacquer.
4. A method for producing imitations of woods or inlaid work on metal, celluloid,
galalith or other materials as claimed in claim 1, including the additional step that the picture is transferred by the application of pressure and heat. 70 In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
