UNITED STATES HENRY T. LANG, or CLEVELAND, oHIo, AssIGNoE To ELECTRIC VACUUM CLEANER oo., INC., oF CLEVELAND, onto,
A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
DISPLAY RECEPTACL FOR VACUUM-CLEANER ATTACHMENTS.
Application filed June 4,
of attachments, and for a consideration of what I believe to be novel in my invention, attention is directed to the following description and the claims appended thereto.
In the drawing, Fig. l is a perspective view of a display receptacle embodying my invention, the attachments being in position therein, and Fig. 2 is a similar View but on a smaller scale and with the attachments removed.
Referring to the drawing, the receptacle comprises a bottom wall 1, side walls 2 and 3,'and end walls 4 and 5. The receptacle is rectangular and the side and end walls are of a height to provide a receptacle of a depth suitable to receive the attachments.
It may be formed from 'a single blank, as shown, or in any other suitable manner. In the receptacle is a raised platform comprising a top wall 6 and side and end walls 7 formed integral with each other. The platform is held in spaced relation to side walls 2 and 3 and end walls 4 and 5 by flanges 8, 9, 10, and 11 formed integral with the bottom edges of walls 7, the flange 8 on the edge being wider than the flange 10 on the opposite edge whereby the platform is positioned farther from side wall.2 than from the opposite side wall 3. Side wal1s'7 are of less depth than are the side walls of theV receptacle so that top wall 6 of the platform stands well below the plane of the top edge of the receptacle. receptacle having a raised central portion surrounded by a continuous Channel.
Coiled around thecentral portion in t-he channel is the hose tube 12 and alongside of it next to wall- 2 is the non-flexible extension tube 13. In top wall 6 of the plat-l Thus there is provided a 1926. Serial No. 113,802.
provides av pocket 16 between a bend in the hose tube and the adjacent side wall of the raised platform adapted to receive an attachment member, and in such pocket 1s shown an attachmentmember 17.
When a hose tube is positioned in the box or receptacle, it lies on flanges 8, 9, 10, and 11 and serves to hold the platform in the box. As a result, the platform requires no special means for fastening itin position. Also, the'ends of flanges 8, 9, 10, and 11 engage with the side and end walls of the box, which assists in holding the platform 1n the box. The cover for the receptacle is not shown 1u the drawing. It may comprise the usual flanged structure, such as *f is provided 0rdinarily with boxes of the type illustrated. That I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United vStates is:
l. A display receptacle for vacuum cleaner attachment members comprising a hose tube and aplurality of smaller attachment members. said receptacle comprising a rectangular box having bottom and side walls anda raised central portion which provides a platform surrounded by a continuous channel, said receptacle being of a size compared to the length of the hose tube such that when the hose tube is coiled in such channel the ends of the liose -tube terminate adjacent to opposite sides of the box in spaced relation to each other whereby there is provided a pocket adapted to receive an attachment member, and means whereby attachment members may be supported on said platform.
2. A display receptacle for vacuum cleaner attachment members comprising a hose tube, a rigid extens'ron tube, and a. plural-l ity of smaller attachment members, said l receptacle comprisingl a rectanofular box having bottom and side walls and a-raised central ortion which provides ay platform vsurrounded by a continuous channel, said raised central portion being spacedv further from one 'iside wall than from the opposite side wall by an amount equal substantially to the dia-meter of the extension tube, whereby the hose tube may be coiled in said channel and the extensiontube placed therein alongside the hose tube, and means whereby attachment members may be supported on said platform.
3. A display receptacle for vacuum cleaner attachment members comprising a hose tube, and a number of smaller members, said receptacle comprising a rectangular box having bottom and side walls, a platform in the box provided with flanges which engage said side Walls to position the platform in v spaced relation vto them whereby there isprovided a channel defined by the platform v and the side walls of the box, said channel being of a Width to permit of the hose tube being coiled thereim'and means whereby attachment members may be supported on said platform. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this 28thday of May, 1926.
