I WIRE HANGER.
Application filed January 13, 1925. Serial No. 2,227.
This invention relates to an: improved hanger for trolley wires or the like,..a'nd' seeks, amongother objects, to provide a simple a1'1d efiicient device of this character which will embody .but few parts, but nevertheless, will be capable ofrigidly. gripping a trolley wire and suspendingthe wire in position.
The invention further seeks to provide a hanger incorporating a pair of coacting jaws, and wherein novel means will be provided for wedglng the aws together into engagement wlth a wire.
.And the invention seeks, as a-still further.
Figure 3-is a vertical sectional view on the 3 3 of Figure 1, looking in-the direc-' tion indicated by the arrows.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectionalview similarto Fi'g-ure 3, but showing the" use of a cotter pin for locking the jaws together.
In carrying' "the invention i-nt'oefiect, I
employ a pair of oblong jaws 10 and '11- which are grooved at'th eir lower margi-ns,
as' indicated at 12, to engage a trolley wire as conventionally illustrated at 13. Above the grooves-12-,'the jawsare hollow andelosingjthe jaws at the ends the'reof aremating end walls 14:. As brought out -in'Figure 2,
the end walls, at each end of the hanger, in-- cl-inein opposite-directions while the for ward end wall of'the jaw 11 is thic lrened, and formed in said end walk-from: the inner vertical edge thereof is a transverse opening or notch 15; Rising from the jaw 10 is a medially disposed sleeve 16 which overhangs the jaw 11 and is internally threaded to accommodate the stud'17 -'of a conventional insulator so that the" hanger-may thus be readily mounted in position for use. As wil lbe observed, the jaw l lis formed at its upper-side with a semi-circular portion 18' wall which is .providedewith a flat upper-face to fit beneath the sleeve 16.
Formed in the sidewall of'xthe jaw. 10 isa medial opening. 19 and: formed in the side .wall.of.t he jaw 11 is a like registeringopen At the rear end offthe opening 19 ingv 20. the jaw 10 is providedwith aztransverse reinforcing. web 21 and integrally formedaon.
said web is an internally threaded conical sleeve 22' extending'horizontally toward the forward end of. the jaw butrinclined' toward its forward end away from; the side wall of the jaw; Near its forward extremity the sleeve is, as particularly shown in Figure 2, provided with a: transverse opening 23'. Formed on the jawll to cooperate with the sleeve 22 is an inwardly directed loop 24 integrally connected with the jaw above and below the opening 20. so that the loop isthus disposed oppposite said opening; The loop is shaped to, extendbehind' the sleeve .22 and,
as brought out in: Figure 2,.i's provided :at the bightther'eof with a beveled inner face .to coact with the=longitudii ral ly inclined freely through the opening 15. in the forward endvwall ofthe jaw 11 is: a cap bolt 25 screwed into. the said sleeve; Thus, as will be, apf preciated,1-the bolt mayfbe adjusted'ffor of the sleeve..1.EXtending shifting the jaw'lllendwise relative tothe jaw 10,. when the. loop 24 will ride downward-1y alongthesleeve 22 for wedging the jaws together and tightly binding said jaws in engagement with the trolley wire 13. On
the contrary,by removing the bolt, the jaws may be relatively shifted endwise in the op posite direction and disengaged from the trolley wire. Accordingly, the hanger may beeasily and quickly. applied or. removed In use, the sleeve 16 of the jawlO isfirst screwed on the insulator stud 17 for rigidly mounting said jaw, when the jaw 11 is assembled with the jaw 10 andUthe loop 2 1 of the latter jaw engaged over the sleeve 22, v
the trolley wire being, of course, disposed between the lower margins of the jaws. The
will be seen, a hanger which comprises but" A device adapted to be used for removing a Wheel from an axle upon Which it is keyed comprising a body provided at its opposite ends With alined sockets of different sizes, and anvil plugs fitting in the sockets.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.

coact with the clamping means of the other jaw for drawing the jaws toward each other into engagement with a wire as the aws are shifted,
16. A hanger of the character described including companion relatively shiftable wire engaging jaws each having clamping means lying between the jaws and the clamping means of each jaw being formed to coact with the clamping means of the other jaw for drawing the jaws toward each other into engagement with a wire as the jaws are shifted, and means to coact with one of said first mentioned means for shifting the jaws,
17. A hanger of the character described including companion relatively shiftable wire engaging jaws one provided with an inclined portion and the other provided with a portion to coact with said inclined portion for wedging the aws into engagement with a wire as the jaws are shifted, said portions of the jaws lying between the jaws.
18. A hanger of the character described including companion relatively shiftable wire engaging jaws one provided with an inclined portion and the other provided with a loop to embrace said" inclined portion coacting therewith for wedging the jaws toward each other in engagement with a wire as the jaws are shifted, said port-ion of the former jaw and said loop of the latter jaw being disposed between the jaws.
19. A hanger of the character described including companion relatively shiftable wire engaging jaws each having clamping means and the clamping means of each jaw being formed to coact with the clamping means of the other jaw for drawing the jaws toward each other in engagement with a wire as the jaws are shifted, said means being housed between the jaws.
20. A hanger of the character described including companion relatively shiftable wire engaging ja'ws having housed coacting means for drawing the jaws toward each other in engagement with a wire as the jaws are shifted, said means being carried by the jaws respectively.
21, A hanger of the character described including companion relatively 'shiftable wire engaging jaws having housed coacting means for drawing the jaws toward each other in engagement with a wire as the jaws are shifted, said means being carried by the jaws respectively, and means to coact with one of said first mentioned means for shifting the jaws.
In testimony whereof I atlix my signature,
