TIME-INDIGATING DEVICE.

This invention relates to a time indicating device, the general object of the invention being to provide simple means whereby the time in different parts of the world can be ascertained.
The invention consists of a primary dial which is divided into 18 parts or meridians, each part containing the names ofcities or localities located in said meridian and a secondary dial rotatably mounted on the first dial and divided into sections, each section being divided into minutes so that by adjusting one dial in relation to the other the time of day. at a certain locality can be time of day of the other localities named on the primary dial can be ascertained.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the append- Indescribing my invention in detail, reference will be had tothe accompanying -drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of the invention.
Figure 2 is a central sectional View.
In these views, 1 indicates the primary dial and 2 the secondary dial which is rotatably mounted on the primary dial by means of the stem 3 which is carried by a plate 4, fastened to the dial 1, and a spool like handle 5 which is. fastened to the dial 2 and which is rotatably mounted on the stem. Thus by rotating the member 5 by the fingers the dial 2 can be adjusted'on the dial 1. The dial 1 is divided into 18 sections, as shown at 6, each section representing a meridian and within each section is placed the names of the cities or localities located in said meridian, as shown at 7. The periphery of the dial 2 is also divided into 18 sections, as shown at 8, and each section is divided into 80 minutes by the numerals 9. The numerals are so arranged on the dial that each half of the dial reads from 1 oclock to 12 oclock so that the dial contains 24 hours.
,The.dial 2 may be divided in half as shown in Figure 1 with one-half containing the word Night to indicate that it is night time for the localities in this half. The primary dial may be used as a secondary dial if desired, and I may place the device on a clock or watch in such a manner that the movable dial will be operated by the hour hand of the clock or watch.
From the foregoing it will be seen that by adjusting'the dials in relation to each other to place the time of day as indicated on dial 2 opposite the name of a certain city or locality, the time of day of the other 10- calities will be given. For instance, when it is 8 oclock in Paris and the parts are adjusted to bring the 8 oclock numeral opposite the word Paris, the device will indicate that it is 9 oclock in Vienna, 10 oclock in Petrograd and so on. Thus a person can easily and quicklytell just what time of day it is in other parts of the world. The invention is applicable for radio, ships, or telegraph stations and the like.

I desire it to be understood that I may I make changes in" the construction-and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
lVhat I claim is A device of the character described comprising a primary dial divided into a plu ral'ity of uniform sectors, a base-plate attached to one side of the dial at the center of the dial and rotatably supporting a secondary dial divided into an equal number of sectorsadaptedto be alined with those 7 of the primary dial, a handle on the secondary dial, a scale of minutes indicated in the sectors of the secondary dial, and a number of localities indicated in the sectors of the primary dial and adapted to be alined with any number in the scale of minutes in the sectors of the secondary dial.
