This invention relates to automatic weft replenishing mechanism for looms of the kind comprising a swivel adapted to actuate a transferrer and having means for preventing the swivel from so actuating the transferrer in the event of the shuttle not being properly positioned in the shuttle box.
The object of the present invention is to devise improved weft replenishing mechanism of the above character, and the invention consists in automatic weft replenishing mechanism for looms of the kind referred to comprising in combination a transferrer, a swivel for actuating the transferrer, a movable member carried bythe swivel and normally adapted to be positioned for moving the transferrer when the swivel is operated and means adapted to move said member so that the transferrer will be out of its path" in the event of the shuttle not being properly positioned in the shuttle box.
The invention also consists in the apparatus hereinafter described.

In carrying my Invention into efiect 1n one convenient manner I may form my 'ransferrer somewhat in the manner de-' 4. scribed in the specification of my copending application No. 740,826, filed Sept. 30, 1.924, of which this application is a division, that is to say, of substantially L formation in plan comprising an arm 70 by which it is mounted on the transferrer shaft Z and at the end of which is the hammer or transferrer proper in" extending across the interior of the magazine in position to engage when depressed the lowermost cop in the magazine, the hammer is extending substantially at right angles from the arm is. The latter is provided with a shoulder or projection Fe with which engages a pin m, shaft or other projection upon the swivel m which is mounted eo-axially with the hammer so that when the swivel is depressed by the action of the feeler mechanism for Weft replenishing a hunter on the sley engages a projection on the swivel, and in its forward stroke thus rota-tes'the swivel (in the manner shown in Figure 4) causing the pin m thereon to engage with the shoulder or projection is upon the hammer inorder to rotate the latter for transfer of the cop. i Q g In order, however, that the transfer may not be eifected'unless the shuttle is properly positioned in the shuttle box I arrange the pin'or memberm upon the swivel'to be controlled by a spring n and provide means in connection therewith which will enable the spring to move the member so that the shoulder or projection 70 upon the hammer arm willbe out of the path of the member so that the hammer arm will not be actuated on rotation of the swivel. In the construction illustrated this is effected by'means of-afdetector comprising a longitudinally movable member 0 slidable in a bracket 79 secured to the breast beam and provided with an attachment 0 which holds the pin on upon the swivel in place against the action of its spring a, such detector either acting direct upon the pin or projection m or indirectly through the medium of a collar 9 which is secured by a to slip off.with loom vibration but when the swivel is depressed by the action of the'feeler motion as shown in Figure 3 the collar 9 is also rotated so thatthe detector attachment 0 retains only a very fine hold upon thecollar. If, however, the shuttle 1 is not properly positioned the nose 1" 'or some other part of the shuttle during the forward movement of the sley comes into contact with the end of the detector arm 0 thus moving the latter (if necessary against a suitable spring) and freeing its attachment 0' from the collar 9 in the manner shown in Figure 2 so that the spring it forces the collar along the hammer shaft and removes ie swivel pin or proiection on so that the ioulder i on the hammer arm will be out 01 its path and in consequence rotation of the swivel by the hunter on the sley will not actuate the transterrer.
