SCREENING DEVICE.

ltiy invention relates to screening devices for interior vcntilat' Y openin in the walls of buildin and a urpose of my invention is the pro ision of a simple, inexpensive screening device which is capable of being secured within a ventilating opening without the necessity of nailing, screwing or in any like manner fastening the device in or about the opening, and which embodies means for removably securing a screen within the device so that should it be desired to extend a ventilating pipe into the ventilating opening, the screen can be readily removed to permit the extension of the pipe through the screening device, thus permitting the device to remain in place within the opening.
I will describe only one form of screening device embodying my invention, and will then point out the novel features thereof in claims.

Figure 1 is a view showing in horizontal section one form of screening device embodying my invention in applied position within a ventilating opening;
Figure 2 is a detail perspective view of the screening device shown in Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a detail perspective view of one of the attaching members embodied in the device shown in the preceding views.
Referring specifically to the drawings,
wherein similar reference characters refer to similar part in each of the several views, my invention, in its present embodiment, comprises a *rame 15 formed of metal or other suitable material, which frame, in the present instance, is of circular form for adaptation to a circular ventilating opening. The edge of the f ame 15 is provided with an annular fiange 1(5 bent so as to be dis posed at one side of and in spaced parallel 'eiation to the frame, as clearly shown 1n Figure 1, so as to accommodate between the flange and fran'ie a pair of attaching members by which latter the screening device as aunit removably secured within a ventilating opening.

In the applied position of the attaching members to the frame, the arms 17 and those portions of the arms 18 disposed in the same plane as the arms 1"? are all interposed between the flange 16 and the frame 15 in such man ner that the flange is utilized to secure the attaching members to the frame. With the attaching member secured to the frame in this manner, it will be clear that the remaining portions of the arms 18 extend from one side of the frame at diametrically opposed points, and it is these portions of the arms 18 which are employed for removably securing the screening device as a unit within a ventiiating opening,
A screen 19 of disk form so as to be received within the area defined by the flange 16 is applied to one side of the frame 15 and with its marginal edge disposed beneath those portions the arm 18 lying parallel to the frame 15 whereby the screen is detachably secured in spanning relation to the opening in the frame 15.
it is to be understood that the wire of which the attaching members is formed is sufficiently resilient to allow the required flexing of the arms 18 to permit their insertion into the ventilating opening, as iilustrated in l ignre 1, the tendency of the arms to expand operating to retain the frame to the wall. Should it be desired to remove the screen 12) from the frame 15 in order to permit the extension of a ventiiating pipe through the fran'ie, it will be clear that by a slight flexing of the arm 18, the screen can be disen aged from the arms and thus re- -il from the frame.
Although i have herein described and shown oniy one f of screening device embody ng my invention, it is to be understood that various eha and modifications may be made therein u lbitJLlt departing from the spirit of the invention and the spirit and St e of the appended claims.

1. A screening device comprising a frame having a flanged edge, attaching members secured to the frame by the flanged edge, and a screen reaiovably secured in spanning relation to the trame by the attaching members.

A screening device comprising a frame having a flanged edge, attaching members each comprising a pair of arms secured to the frame by the flanged edge and a third arm extending from one side of the frame, and a screen engaged by the third arms of the members for remorabiy securing the screen to the frame.

A screening device comprising a frame raving a flanged edge, and attaching members each comprising a single length of Wire bent to term arcnetc arms extending in 0ppesite directions and twisted to form an E..- shaped. arm, the arcuate arm being engaged by the flanged edge for securing the members to the frame and the t.-shaped arm extendingfrom one side of the frame for the purpose described.
A screening device comprising a frame hav'i r a hinged edge attaching members each cor-u rising a single length of Wire bent to form arcuate arms extending in opposite directions and twisted to form an L-shaped arm, the arc-mete arms being engaged by the flanged edge for securing the members to the trame and the L-shaped arm extending from one side of the frame and a screen engaged by the L-shaped arms for removahly securing the screen in spanning position with respect to the frame.
