HEAT-UTILIZING DEVICE.
Application filed April 21, 1924. Serial No. 708,066.
The present invention relates to a heatutilizing device and has for its principal objectto provide a device which is adapted to be used with gas stoves and the like so that two cooking utensils may be heated from the same burner.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature Which is eX- tremely simple and eiiicient in construction, reliable in operat-ion land Well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in vieu7 as will appear as the description progresses, the invention relates to certain novel features of construction, and the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawing z- Figure 1 is a top plan of the device, a p0rtion thereof being shoivn in section,
Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof,
Figure 3 is a longitudinal vertical section,
Figure 4 is a transverse section,
Figure 5 is a plan vievv of an attachment used with the device, and
Figure 6 is a detailed section taken on the line 6 6 of Figure 1 looking in the direction ot the arrow.
Referring' to the drawing in detail it Will be seen that the device consists oi a pair of spaced bars 1 to one end of which are connected a semi-circular band 2 which is provided with a depending apron 3 that is adapted to encircle the flame in the stove to form a heat chamber. The upper edges oit the bars 1 are slanted so as to extend upwardly from the band 2. A U-shaped band 4 is attached to the other ends of the bars 1 and its legs are provided on their upper edges with notches 5. A detiector plate 6 is arranged over the upper edges of the bars 1 so as to deflect the hea-t in the chamber formed by the band 2 to the chamber formed by the band 4. A zig-zag band 7 is arranged about the band 2 so as to prevent cooking 45 utensils placed on band 2 from tilting. A similar band 8 is arranged about the band 4 so as to form triangular compartments 9 one at each of its legs and body portion. Vben a cooking utensil is situated on the band 4 50 the heat will be passed through the notches 5 into the compartments 8 and 9 adjacent the legs oit' the band 4 but not into the compartment adjacent its body or intermediate portion. The triangular chambers S and 9 in 55 which the heat is allowed to pass are provided With outlet notches 10 as shown in Figure 6 at the bottom thereof.
In Figure 5 I have illustrated a reducing plate 12 Which is provided -With a cent-ral 60 opening 13. This plate is formed with a reduced extension 14 at one end thereof which is provided with depending cleats 15 thereby preventing the same from slipping oli' of the band 2 when it is situated thereon. 65 A handle 16 is provided on the plate 12 so that the same may be lifted and placed in and out of engagement with the band 2 as may be desired. This reducer plate 12 is also adapted to be used With the band 4 70 When found desirable.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is A device of the class described comprisinga U-shaped band, a zig-Zag band secured about the U-shaped band to form triangular compartments one opposite each of the legs and body portion of said band, the terminals of said zig-zag band being parallel and etitended beyond the legs of the U-shaped band, S0 a semi-circular band, and a Zig-Zag band, secured about the semi-circular band, the terminals of the semi-circular band and the vzigzag band carried thereby being secured CARL R. SNOGRASS,
