This invention vrelates to improvements in aprons which may be used by barbers,

surgeons, dentists, patients, and for other purposes.

An object of this invention is to provide an improved apron having a neck band which is designed to be held snugly about the neck of the wearer, and which has a metallic fastening part for fastening the neck band in the desired position, which fastening part is readily removable. The object of having this construction is that in sending the aprons to a laundryio be laundered, it is undesirable that there be any metallic parts on the apron, as these parts not only are apt to become-damaged in themselves, but are apt to damage machinery in the laundering. By the improved construction the metallic fastener part can be easily, detached and the complete apron can be sent to the laundry free from any metallic parts whatsoever, so that the damage. which might otherwise occur to the machinery during the laundering will thus be completely eliminated.

Another object of this invention is to provide an improved apron having a hook on one. end of its neck band and an improved construction on the other end of theneck band adaptedto be engaged by the hook, and which is of simple and durable construction, and which'can be easily constructed and will provide for adjustment of the neck band.

improved apron consists of a body 10, on-which there ably formed of'a single piece of wire bentcentrally, as indicated at 15 to provide a point. It is then reversely bent upon itself, as indicated at16, to provide a shank 17 adapted to be disposed in the loop provided by the neck band and the stripof fabric 12.' The ends of the piece of wire are curled at 18 forming portions disposed adjacent the shank. The extremities, however, are slight- 1y spaced from the shank. If desired, a conventional hook can be employed and the curled port ons 18 which are usually arranged to have their ends engaging the shank to form eyes can be stretched slightly to make the/ onstruction shown in Fig. 4. The curled portions 18 engage the edge of the fabric strip 12 remote from the end of the neck band to which the hook is applied, and thus serve to p pulled through the loop in the direction of the endof the neck band. However, the book can be removed from the loop in the opposite direction by forcing the hook rearwardl away from the end of the neck band and t en causing the shank to be swung away from the neck band. In this manner the complete hook can be readily twisted out of the loop, so that it can be detached from .the apron ,on sending the apron to the laundry. 1 From the above described constructionit will be appreciated that the improved 'apron has only a single metallic fastener part, and this fastenerpart can be readily removed and applied, so that on sending the aprons to the laundry there will be no fasteners to become lost or dama ed or which will damage machinery in t e laundry. Furthermore, the improved construction rovides for an easy, quick and efficient ad uStment of the neckband to thebody of the person wearin the apron. I

I-claim:

' 1. An apron having a neck band, a strip of fabric secured by it's top and bottom edges to the interior of the neck band adjacent one end thereof forming a loop, a hook having a shank extending t rough the loop and having a portion engageable upon the ends of the strip remote from the mentioned end of the neck band so as to revent the hook from being pulled throng the loop,

and means provided uponthe other end of the neck bandfadapted to be engaged by said hook.

2. An apron having a neck band, a strip 4 of the strip remote from the mentioned end of the neck band, thus preventin the hook 59 from being. withdrawn through t e loop in one direction, but permittin it in the other and means provided upon t e other end of the neck band adapted to be engaged by the hook. 3. An apron having a neck band, a hook secured to one end thereof, there bein a plurality of pleats provided upon the ot er end of the neck band which are open toward the center of the neck band and any of which are engagleable by the hook.
