Application meafa rn 5,-
My invention relates to weatherstrips, and more particularly to metal interlocking weather strips, as applied to casement win-c (lows, French-doors and the like, one element of which is attached to thewindow or door plied; a
Fig. 2 a perspective View of the member which is attached to the sash, and
l ig. 3 a similar view of the member attached to the window sill. Referring to the drawings in detail, the window-sill is indicated at 4 and the sash at 5. The sill member is indicated in whole at A, and is attached to the sill by screws'as at 6. This sill member A c omprises the base portion 7 and-two side walls 8 and 9. The side wall 8 has an inwardly extending flange 10. The side wall 9 is higher than the opposite side wall 8, and it also has an inwardly extending flange indicated at, 11. The'bottom of the sash is rabbeted so as to snugly fit over and upon the sill member A and also to accommodate the sash member which is indicated in whole at B. i The sash member B consists of a fiat metal strip 12 attached" to the outsideot the sash by nails 13, and right-angle portion 1l,the latter being'bent upon itself to form a channel to take the inwardly extending flange 11. r
Preferably this portion of the sash menr her is resilient, so as to have a spring action pressing upon each side of inwardly-extei'iding flange 11, without jambing thereon. For the purpose of securingsuchan effect, the bent portion 11 is made relativelythinner than the loose, end 11?. The latter is bent upon itself as at 11 which gives it a sliding "both upper and lower-faces arsar OFFICE;

movement; when engaging the inwardly-ex tending flange 11, similarly to its action if itv were bevelled.
What I claim is':-
each of ditrerent height, the higher wall having an inwardly extending flange, and a sashniember comprising an attaching'strip' having aright-angled p0rtion,'the latter being bent upon itself to form ajsubstantially' U shaped channel, to springingly engage lJQill upper and lower faces ot the inwardly extendingfiange of said sill member.
2; In a device of theclass described, a sill member having a base and two side walls, each of diiiierent height, the higher wall having an inwardly extending flange, and a sash member comprising an attaching strip hav ing a right-angled portion, the latter being bent upon itself to form a substantially U-shaped channel, to springingly engage of the inwardly extending flange of said sill member, so that the free end thereof shall extend approximately to the inner side of the higher wall of the sill member." vi
two side walls,'each otditlerent height, said walls having inwardly extending flanges,
and a sash member comprising an attaching terlbeing bent upon itself to tially U shaped channel, to springingly ens gage both upper and lower faces ot'theinwardlyextending flange of said'sil-l member,
1. 111a deviceot the class described, a sill member having abase and two side walls,
0. In combination with a sash and a win dow sill, a sill member having a base and said sash having two'rabbets,v the inner I'abc bet'to take and abut the lower side wallof the sill member, "and the outerrabbet to take 7 r and abut the higher sidewall of the sill Fsnn w. KAMMERER. 1
