to provide a forwardly extending pivot prong 15 at the lower and forward corner of the rocker yoke, and produced by a return bendiof the metal of the blank, said pivot prong 15 being adapted for pivotal bearing in the bearing recesses 3, of the housing 1 and in the abutment recess of the lug 6, of the handle 5. Also to provide. a rearward extension 16 in right-angle relation to the main disk portion 13, with said extension 16, having at its rear end an angular lug 17 arranged in the path of the sleeve nut 11 aforesaid, to limit independent rearwardmovement of the sleeve nut with relation to i the rocker yoke, and in addition to have sliding. engagement against the curved bearing surfaces 4, of the housing 1, above described, to prevent independent rearward movement of rocker yoke with relation to thehousing 1.
In the present construction, the orificed disk portion 13, aforesaid, is, arranged in front of the operating sleeve nut 11, and is adapted to limit independent forward movement of said sleeve nut with relation to the rocker yoke 12. In the preferred construction shown, said orificed disk portion 13, has a diameter greater than the sleeve nut 11 for the purpose of guarding said nut from contact with exterior objects and prevent accidental turning of the nutthereby.
18 designates spring interposed between the rocker yoke 12, and the handle orlever 5, and adapted to yieldingly swing the yoke 12, sleeve nut 11, and the shank 10, of the movable wrench jaw 9, in a direction away from the handle 5, and normally hold the movable wrench jaw 9, in a position nearer the fixed wrench jaw 8, in order to require a pressure of the thumb of the operator upon the rear portion of the shank, 10, to attain an initial and limited opening of the jaws in applying the wrench tov a pipe or the like. Said spring feature and its function is common in the present type of adjustable pipe wrenches.
Having fully described my invention which I claim as new anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is
