Description

,J. PIETZUCH' HEEL AND LIFT FOR SHOES Filed Oct. 23, 1922 4.0 ful foot trouble as now experienced with Patented Oct. 5, 1926.
PATENT OFF-WE.

HEEL Ahl'D LIFT FOR SHOES.
Application filed August 23, 1922. Serial No. 583,849.,
My invention relates more particularly to shoe heels or lifts made of rubber or analogous material, altho the same'may be applied to a heel or lift of any kind of material, especially when made separately as an article of manufacture. The object of my invention is to make a pronounced right and left heel constructed or formed for correct walking; the construction and .form embodied in the heel itself -durin manufacture of said heel or lift as an in ependent article of manufacture, so that, when placed upon the shoe, or in case of a lift, if placed upon the bottom face of 1 the heel, a shoe of proper poise will result,
' sustaining the user in correct upright position for walking.
Further, in carrying out my invention, to produce such a heel or. lift, I extend the innor side line of said heel or lift one fourth inch forward] more or less, (as the par ticular type 0 shoe may require), to form a partial arch support. Another feature of the invention consists in forming in the permanent construction'of the heel or lift a raised corner, that is, I raise or increase the inside corner of said heel approximately one eighth of an inch and thus elevate said inside corner, making it higher and greater in thickness, and from this high inner point I gradually diminish said thickness or height, to a thinner lower level to the opposite and all border edges of said heel.
My improvement creates a greater wearing capacity, provides comfort and automatic balance of the, human body on the feet; thus eliminating and preventing discomfort and distortion of the feet, and pain-,
shoes provided with rubber heels as now constructed.
The salient feature of this invention and construction .lies in the production of a rub 4.5 berheel or part heel, or lift, made as an article of manufacture, havin a raised corner, and its upper surfage rece 'ng from said corner to all parts of the border of said heel,- so that a three-point body balance will re sult for the feet,-and thereby render foot comfort and service, and obviate and-'overcome the presentweaknessesofall rubber heels. 7
In the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification: I
. making the other nest ohne.
front of the lift shown in Fig. 1,
Fig. 4, is an end edge view looking at front of the lift shown in Fig. 2,
Fig. 5, is a plan view same as shown in Fig. 1, but referring to a heel,
Fig. 6, is a plan view, same as shown in Fig. 2, but referring to a heel, Fig. 7, is a View same as shown in Fig. 1, except as applied to a heel,
except applied to a heel, and h Iiig. 9, is a side edge side view of a full The lifts shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3, and 4, are made after my United States Patent No. 1,264,127 and in Figs. 5, 6, 7, s, and 9, a regular sized heel is shown The lifts and heels. shown are made of rubber or analogous material and moulded or pressed into the form and contour shown, altho such form may be somewhat modified.
.The right lift is marked 1, and the left lift' e right heel 3, and itsleft companion 4; the inner edge of the lifts and heels are extended forwardly as shown in- 2, and t 5 beyond the outer edge of the heel or lift so that'the same appears lopsided. The extension may vary in length but I prefer to. make the same one-fourth of an inchin length.
At the inside corner of the heel 1, where the inner edge extends forwardly, the said corner is raised or elevated as shown at 6,
Flg. 8, is a view same as shown in Fig. 1,
this elevated art gradually recedes toward other border ines of the heel or lift, thus part of the heel thln' ner, t
until it reaches a iinner level surface; the
thickness between the thickest and the thin-- portion being raised by a gradual in- By this construction three points of balance result, so as to balance the'shoes, the
feet, and the wearers bodyin proper osition for correct walking. These ba ance points are inarkedlO, 15, and 20.
QIt-will be obvious'that I can make this raise or thickness any degree and make the inclination of short or long range or area.
What I claim as new and my invention and desire secure by Letters Patent is:
A h'eel member adapted to be attached to ordinary shoes and having a horizontal plane bottom surface and an inclined plane top surface terminating at their front ends in a substantially straight breast edge, the remaining edge of the heel member being continuous and curved from one end of said breast edge to the other end of the latter, the inner one of the corners formed by said meeting edges extending forwardly substan-s tially beyond the other corner, the vertical edge of said forwardly extending corner being of greater height than any other portion of the heel member, and the breast edge of the heel member'bein of gradually decreasing thickness from t e vertical edge of the forwardly extending corner to the vertical edge of the other corner, and thecurved edge of the heel member being of gradually decreasing thickness from the vertical edge of the forwardly extending corner to the rear end of the heel.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature at Cincinnati, Ohio, this 12th day of August, 1922 1 JOSEPH PIETZUCH.
