H. E. KITTLE I TOY Filed Sept. 27; 1924 2 Sheehs-Shei 2 gwuvmlidm Patented Sept. 21, 1926. I
NITED- sfrArss Application filed September A still further object of this invention resides in the provision of a toy of such construction that certain motions of the body of an individual, supported thereon, will cause it to progress over the ground.
In addition to the aforesaid objects, this invention resides in providing a toy which will support an individual and convey him as long as he can maintain his equilibrium thereon.
Aside from the foregoing object-s this invention resides in the provision of a toy of such construction that its progress can be regulated Without affecting its mode of operation.
Since this invention affords amusement and exercise commensurate with the skill of the individual manipulatingthe same, an appreciable degree of attraction thereto is created and, therefore, another of the objects of the invention is to utilize the same as an advertising medium. 7
\Vith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in certain novel features of construction, arrangement and combination of elements to be hereinafter set forth in the specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims and, while the cllsclosure depicts my present conception of the invention, it is to be understood that the right is reserved to resort to such departures from the disclosure as come within the scope of the claims. n
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application Fig. 1 is a perspective View of one form of my invetnion;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view thereof approximately on line 22 of Fig. l;
Fig. 3 is a similar view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 is a perspective'view of another form of my invention;
, moans sYnaousE, wa I I or. I l I 27; 1924. SerialNo .'74 0; 228. v I
Fig. 5 is sectional'view approximately on line 5 -5 of Fig. 4; and
Fig. 6 is a front View thereof showing an advertising panel" carried--thereby In the present embodiment ofthis inven tion, the numeral?) designates an alongated handle adjacent the-lower end of which is pivotally secured a" pair of adjustable legs 6. Secured to the handle?) adjacent the pivotal points of the legs 6 is a loop-shaped of locking pins 8, whichsecure the legs in adjusted relation on opposite sides of the axis of the handle.
an individual is required to maintain his equilibrium upon the. bracket '7 while grasping the handle 5 and, upon succeeding in this particular, movements of the body from side to side, together with certain periods of relaxation of pressure on opposite sides of the bracket, will cause the legs 6 to alter nately swing in advance of one another." To regulate the strides of the legs 6, they are disposed accordingly in spaced relation to the axis of the handle and secured in their adjusted positions by the stay-bolts 8."
In the form of thisinverition illustrated in 4 to 6 the legs 6 are non-adjustable,
bracket 7 constructed notonly to form a To manipulate a toy of this construction preferably formed integrally with the han- I die 5 and support a substantially loop-shaped bracket 7 having its terminals 10 embracing the legs.
In order to utilize this invention as an advertising medium, a panel P having advertising manuscript thereon is fastened thereto inany suitable manner and in any appropriate or convenient position thereon.
With this invention fully set forth, it is V manifest that a toy adapted to afford amusement and exercise. is produced and, through the requirementof skill to manipulate it, attraction thereto will be induced.
Having thus described: my invention, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is;
, 1. A. toy of the character described comprising a handle, legs pivoted thereto at points remote from the. lower end of the handle, a bracket secured to the lower portion of the handle and extending laterally beyond the sides of the legs, and fastening elements securing the legs to the bracket.
2A, toy of the character described, a handle comprising diverging legs pivotally secured on opposite sides of the handle remote from its lower end, a 1o'opshape'd' bracket secured to the handle adjacent its lower end and extending laterally therefrom at substantially right angles thereto, and fastening elements securing the legs to theib-racket at points inward of its extremities.
3. A toy of the. character described comprising a handle, a loop-shaped bracket secured to the lower end thereof in substantially right angular relation thereto, legs secured to the handle at points remote from the bracket and having their free portions projecting through the bracket inwardly of its extremities, and fastening elements securing the legs to the bracket at selected points inward of the, endsvof the bracket.
4. A toy of the character described comprising a handle, a loop-shaped bracket adjacent its'lo er end, legs carried by' the handle and extending through the bracket and securing elements connecting the bracket and legs to the handle.
5. into oi the character described comprising a handle having legs secured adjacent the lower end. thereof and diverging therefrom, a bracketin right angular relation to the handle and extending on oppositesides thereof in the region of the legs, and means securing the legs tothe bracket i inwardly of its extremities. I
In testnnony whereof I afiix my signatnre.
HARRY n. )K'ITTLE.
