Description

Get. 10, 1961 E. A. YOUNG 3,003,761
CHILDRENS PLAY HORSE Filed Jan. 25, 1959 FIG. 3.
United States Patent 3,003,761 CHILDRENS PLAY HORSE Eugene Alfred Young, Vista, Calif., assignor to Dixco,
a corporation of California Filed Jan. 23, 1959, Ser. No. 788,658 12 Claims. (Cl. 272-1) This invention relates generally to childrens play horses and more particularly to a play horse head to be attached to a childs belt.
There have been numerous play horses for children, such as the commonly known stick horses and many other types of horses heads for children to use in pretending to be riding a horse and in playing western games and the like.
None of the devices so designed for children to play with provide a realistic and life-like horses head and neck acuon. In addition to this deficiency, most of such horses are provided with long sticks and the like which are dangerous and cumbersome.
I have developed a horses head arrangement adapted to be fastened to a childs belt and which gives a realistic motion through the neck and head.
Thus, it is a major object of my invention to provide a play horse head which can be attached to a belt; it is a further object of my invention to provide a play horse head which provides a realistic and life-like motion; it 18 still a further object of my invention to provide an economical and realistic play horses head which moves but is not cumbersome.
The foregoing and other objects and advantages of my invention will be best understood by reading the following description in conjunction with the attached drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a side elevation of a preferred embodiment of my invention in place upon a users belt;
FIGURE 2 is a front elevation of the same embodiment of my invention unattached to any belt or user;
FIGURE 3 is a section through the plane 33 of FIG- URE 1.
FIGURES 1, 2 and 3 display neck 10, made from a length of spring steel or the like bent with a catch 16 adapted to slide over a belt 17 worn by a person 18.
Neck curves generally upwardly and outwardly and is shaped as shown at 1-1 and 12 to provide the outline of the horses head.
A pair of ears 14 and 14a of plastic, cloth or the like are attached by glue or the like to the neck 10.
The head portion of the device is provided with a bridle 13 of plastic or the like, a bit of wire or the like attached to reins 19 of plastic or the like.
A mane 15 formed of cotton or the like is glued by adhesive material 21 to the strap 10.
Obviously, the head shape could be that of a cow, camel or other animal if desired.
It will be readily seen that a user by flexing the reins can cause the head to rear, bow or turn as desired. This provides a realistic type action for the device.
While the embodiment of my invention shown and described is fully capable of achieving the object and advantages desired it is not intended that this invention be limited by the specific embodiment shown but only as may be required by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A device of the character described comprising: a
