Application filed April 5, 1923.
This invention is a combination ironing` board and step ladder1 and the object is to provide a simple, e'flicient and practical combination of this kind.
In the drawing- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device folded together;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the device set up for use as a step ladder;
Figure 3 is a side elevation of the device opened and set up for use as an ironing board.
The device consists of the combination of an ironing board 1, having its pointed or tapered end 2 hinged at 3 to the narrowed or upper end of a step ladder 4. The said step ladder has an ironing board leg-frame 5 pivoted outvvardly to it at the medial points 6, so that the said frame 5 may be turned or folded down close along the side rails of the ladder when the device is to function as a ladder and' not as an ironing board. A cross-slat 7 is fastened to the under side of the ironing board to act as a stop for the inner end 8 of the leg-frame 5 When the latter is opened out to serve as a support for the device When it is used as an ironing` board. A U-shaped link 9 has its free ends pivotally connected at 10 to the free end of the ironing board, while the loop portion 11 is adapted to engage hooks 12 mounted on 'the lower ends of the side rails of the ladder l, and so help support the device When used either as a ladder or as an ironing board.
Serial No. 630,164.
The operation and use of the device is obvious.
Vhile I have herein described a certain specific manner and method of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood I may vary from same in minor details, not departing from the spirit of my invention, as defined in the appen'ded olaim.
I claim:
A device of the kind descrited, comprising an ironing board and a step ladder, the said ironing board having a ytapered end whe'reat it is hinged to the upper end of the step ladder and having` a `medial stop upon its'under side; an ironing` board leg frame pivoted outwardly. at medial points upon the step ladder, so that the said frame may be folded down close along the side rails of the ladder or' may be opened out f with an end bearing against the said medial stop of the under side of the ironing board as a support for the ironing board; hooks upon the lower ends of the side rails of the ladder; a U-shaped link having its free ends pivotally connected to the under side of the free end of the ironing board With its loop portion aclapted to engage the said hoolrs at the lower ends of the side rails of the ladder Whereby the said link is adapted to serve as a foldable auxiliary support for the device When in use as an ironing` board.
