This invention relates tov discharge tubes orv conductors and means associatedthere" vide a device capable of attachment in con-- junction With an outlet for conducting waste material and in which the device is capable of ready detachment and re-attachment.
Another object of the invention is to produce a discharge tube or conductor embodying a comparatively rigid section and a 'comparatively flexible section, With attaching means on the rigid section for effecting the connectionof the tube or conductor to otherplied for use in conjunction vvith a part of a machine. which is incomplete, but Which is made complete by the application of the device, a portion of the device of the present invention being broken away; I i
Fig. 2 is a sectional plan View of the dovice and the devicewith which it is used.
As stated, the device of the present inven-l tion is intended for use to complete andto obtain perfect results in conjunction with an incomplete'device which does not properly carry out the results looked for. Such vincomplete device, -or instance, has Vbeen found in perforating machines used for peri Vnection established. The shaft 10 carries at forating leather used in the production of shoes. In carrying out the perforating operations, a punch is employed at the end of a shaft having a hollow section immediately above the punch, into which the punchings are forced.' 'rhetoiiow Secam tf the haa .has anl outlet opening in` the'side'thereof thro'ughwhich the punching's are discharged. At present these punchings fall over parts of theV machine, such as the transmission mechanism, and other parts, and'v renders. them at times incapable of proper operation. Therefore, such shaft 10, Which is mounted `for reciprocationin a guide 11 has applied thereto the' device-12' ofthepresent invention.
The device vof the present invention con- "sists of a tube' or conductor f13, andv attaching means 14. ktionA 15, 'which isq'comparatively rigid and rlheutubey consists of'a secmade preferably of metal, and a-section `1,6 connected to the section 15, vas at 17 andl which is flexible and made rpreferably of rubber. The Vattaching means 14: includes portions 18 and 19,. The portion18 Vcarries or has formed thereon, eyes 20, and the por-A tion 19 carriesor has formed thereon, a lug 21. The means 14:'also includes a clamping y member 22 having an eye 23 similar to the eyes 20 and a lug 24.- similarto the lug 21. By virtureofthe eyes 20 and 23, pivotal Vconnection of the member 22 iseifected, as at 20', by the employment of a suitable pintle extended through the said eyes, as shown i in ost clearly in Fig. 2. Inasmuch as the shaft 10 isV cylindrical in cross' section, the portions 18 and k19 and the clamping member 22 are capable of conforming tothe cross sectional shape of the shaft for the proper application of the device. Arscrevv bolt 25 is employed in conjunction With the lugs 21 and 24, which lugs are apertured to receive the bolt 25,7and anut26'serves'for setting up the clamping'action. Aholding member 27 is vcarried bythe section 15 and is disposed in contact With the side of the shaft 10 When the device is connected as shown in Fig. 1 to aid inholding the tube or conductor 13 horizontally disposed With repect to the shaft 10,. On reference to Fig. 1, it Will be apparent that the shaft 10 is hol- "loW, as at 28, and has an outlet 29, and thatone end ofthe tube or yconductor 13 is in communication with the interior of the shaft 10 by Vvirtue of the outlet 29 and the conice into the space 28 and pass roin the vspace 28 into the tube or conductor 13. The constant reciprocationof the shaft 'l0 phis the crowding '.iorce of the incoming punchings and the shifting effect prodiiced loyv thexva'll 3l o1 the shaft, causet'he punchingsto'he discharged through the tube or conductor 13. It will therefore be 'nderstood that instead of the punchings dropping out ofthe `outlet Q9 on parts of the mechanism of the machine Awhich operate the `shaft` l0, the 'pnnchin-gs will be conducted to a point where they may he received in a sutablerceptacle. The use 'of lthe iiexiblev section- 16 perinitsthe proper application ot til-re device in a caseevhere part of the tube has vto extend throughv sonne relatively fixed part o't'fa machine. l l i From thefforegoing lit Will he V.apparei'it thatl 'the kdevice Y lof the present invention .has a Wide range of application and thatthe Y rightr is reserved-to use A'the samewvheiever discharging Aor draining voperations V`are to lheV carried; r-out 41n 'con-Junction Wit-li parts Whic'hare incomplete the attainment of. *the result looked .for- It n will `also be yapcliarge't'conductor at the outlet, said atytaching rneansecomprising coacting clainping portions one' of which is hingedly connected at one end oi-'Ysaid discharge conductor, and a `fastener which coacts With )the extremity of said hingedly connected portion and a portion of the discharge conductor i@ tionship'of said clam-ping portions.
