COMPRESSION TUBE.

My invention relates to improvements in compression tubes and the like wherein materials for personal and domestic purposes are to be dispensed in a sanitary manner, and wherein the dispensing mechanism must be of a simple nature and the product to be dispensed is kept in a sealed condition after and between dispensing operations.
Further objects of my invention consist in a form of mechanism that makes possible the personal use of all material ejected from the compression tube container.
Further objects of my invention consist in a sanitary means for dispensing of the materials.
Further objects ofmy invention consist in providing a means wherein there is intimate contact in all of the material in the tube.
Further objects of my invention consist in forming the dispensing head of the compression tube and the bodyv of the same in a homogenous manner, andwherein the valve sleeve operates upon the exterior of the dispensing head mechanism.
Further objects of'my invention consist in the elimination of all threaded joints contacting with the material being dispensed.
Further objects of my invention consist in providing a means wherein the valve con trol and the operation of the same and the dispensing pressure can be accomplished with but the use of one hand of the user of the same.
Further objects of my invention consist in the dispensing of the material having three flat sides when dispensed.
lVith these and incidental objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination of parts, the essential elements of which are set forth in the appended claim and. the
preferred form of embodiment of which is hereinafter shown with reference to the drawings, which accompany and form a part of this specification.

Like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the several views.
1 is the body portion of the tube and 2 is the neck portion connecting with the cylindrical head 3. The main center line of the cylindrical head is at right angles to that of the center line of the body portion of the tube. An opening 4 connects the inner portion of the tube with the exterior through the head. In my preferred embodiment this openlng is shown to be triangular as illus trated by .4: in Fig. 7.
One of the difliculties in devices of this kind has been to maintain the exuding head, in a strictly sanitary condition when in use. To obtain this result and to make possible the utilization of the total amount of material exuded from the tube, I have provided a sleeve covering 5 disposed about the central opening through the head and having a knurled head 6 for manipulating the same. To permit of the placement of the sleeve covering 5 upon the cylindrical head, I have provided that clips at one end of the sleeve is closed, thereby locking the sleeve thereon at each end of the head.
It is desirable that the rotation of the sleeve covering should be permitted within certain limits so that as the same is rotated in one direction the opening through the sleeve and through the head to the interior of the tube will register and when turned in the opposite direction within the stop limits the said opening will be entirely closed. This is best illustrated in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5. In Fig. 4 the openings through the sleeve covering and through the head are shown to register and the material to be removed, after having passed through the head, may be removed entirely by the passage of the hand or the brush there-across. The rota tion of the sleeve until the stop 8 contacts with the shoulder 9 of the neck will entirely close the opening therethrough.
It is apparent that the tube may be held in one hand and the sleeve covering manipulated with the thumb and finger of the same hand, thus permitting the removal of the exuded material therefrom with the other hand.
One of the main advanta es of m invention is the provision of a closure that is securely placed in position upon the head of the tube without the necessity to remove the same therefrom to obtain the material from the tube, through the opening.
While the form of mechanism herein siown and described is admirably adapted to fulfill the objects primarily stated, it is to be understood that it is not intended to confine the invention to the one form of embodiment herein shown and described as it is susceptible of embodiment in various forms, all coming Within the scope of the claim which follows.
What I claim- A compression tube, comprising a collapsible tube having a tubular neck portion, a cylindrical head upon said tubular neck portion and extending at an angle thereto, a discharge passage leading from the interior of said tube, through said tubular neck and transversely through said head and a cylindrical sleeve mounted on said head and having a discharge opening, said sleeve having at its central part a cut away portion greater than the diameter of the tubular neck so as to permit the discharge opening in the sleeve to he moved into and out of reg ister with the said discharge passage in said head.
