This invention rela-tes to mechanisms for raisingl and lowering windows and it is par ticularly adapted in its application to windows which are slidable in guideways in a suitable frainesuch as in the doors of closed automobiles -or other vehicles.
The principal object of the yinvention is the production of a window regulator of few parts, of simple construction and which may be manually operated with little effort.
Other and further objects and advantages of the invent-ion lwill appear from the accompanying description, the invention consisting in a novel window regulator hereinafter more particularly described and then specified in the claims.
The accompanying drawing illustrates a practical embodiment of the invention in which:

Referring in detail to both figures of the drawing:
1 indicates the side members of a rectangular frame of a door which are provided with suitable guideways or channels 2 therein receiving a slidable window pane 3 slidable into the usual window Well one wall of which is indicated at 4. and the other wall of which is indicated at 5. 6 indicates a window sill or ledge extending across the side members and fastened thereto in any desirable manner.
Mounted on one of the side members 1, by suitable screws as shown or otherwise, is a bracket 7 provided with extensions 8 and 9. Pivoted to the extension 9 is a curved arm 10 having thereon a roller 11 adapted to ride in a channel 12 which is secured in any manner to the lower edge of the window 3. The outer end of the iiexible operating rod 10 is pivoted to a curved arm 12 extending upwardly adjacent the righthand side member 1 and supported by a perforated bracket 13 which is secured to the righthand side member 1 by suitable screws as shown. The operating rod 12 also extends through a suitable opening in the window sill 6 and it has secured thereto above the window sill an operating handle 1&1. The window is thus retained in any set position by reason of the operating rod 12 binding to some extent in the bracket 13. The 4free or movable end of the arm 10 is normally out of alignment with the opening through the bracket 13 thereby 'insuring' a binding action between thefrod 12 and bracket 13. lt is obvious that the bracket 13 and rod 12inay be provided with a supplemental locking or friction device Vif desired.
As willbe obvious, pulling up or pressing down of the operating handle 14 operates to raise or lower the window 3 in the guideways 2 as the roller rides in the channel12 and -very little effort is necessary for the raising or lowering` operation due to the disposition of the various parts described and the leverage attained on the handle. To assist in the raising of the window we attach one end of a counterbalance spring 15 to the extension 8 while the other end is attached to a suitable hook on the arm 10. The parts all being carried or supported by the bracket 7, with the exception of the bracket 13, makes the shipping and installation of the device very simple.
lVhat we claim as our invention is:
1. In a window regulator, a bracket, an arm pivoted at one end to said bracket, a spring` connecting said arm and said bracket, window engaging means carried by said arm between the ends thereof, an operat ing rod pivoted to said arm adjacent the free or movable end-thereof andineans for securing said rod against movement.
2. :in combination with a movable window, a curved, pivotally mounted arm, means operatively connecting said arm and window at a point adjacent the topmost portion of said curve when said window is in raised position, an operating rod secured to said arm at a point outwardly of the point of connection thereof with said window, and means for controlling said rod.`
3. In a window regulator, a frame provided with a walled space therein, a window slidable in said frame and into said walledspace, a curved arm pivotally secured to said frame and provided with a window operating element adjacent the topmost portion of said curve when said window is in closed position, means for connecting said element with said window, said arm being provided with an extension extending'` beyond said element, and a shiftable control rod secured to said extension for moving said Window. c
4. In a Window regulator, `a frame provided with a Walledspace tl1erein,a Window7 slidable in saidframe and into said Walled space, a curved arm pivotally` secured to said frame and provided Witlia Window operating element adjacent the topmost portion of said curve when said Window is Yin Yclosed position, means for connecting said element with said Window, said rarm being provided' Y with an extensionextending beyond said element, a sliiftable control rod secured to Vsaid extension for moving said `Window 'and ia counterbalancing spring 'attached to said arm adjacent the curve therein andV secured to Said frame above thepivotal point of connection of said arm and frame.
