UNITED stares OLOlE` BERNHARD DAHLQVST, OF HUDIKSVALL, SWEDEN, ASSIGNOR GF ONE-HALF TO :PER ERIK WIKLANDEE, OE HUDIKSVALL, SWEDEN.
REMOVABLE INNERSOLE FOR BOOTS OR SHOES.
Application filed March 1,3, 1925, Serial No. 15,216, and in Sweden May 9, 1922.
The present invention refers to an innersole for insertion into boots or shoes, this innersole being composed ot' three superimposed layers ot materials, the uppermost,
level layer being provided with comparativelysmall holes, distributed over the whole surface and the bottom layer being compact or solid. The characteristics oi' this invention consist in the intermediate layer also being level and provided with larger holesA` located about coaxially below the holes in the top layer, their boundary walls with the loivermost layer as a. bottom Jforming cells distributed over the entire sole` these cells 'being closed with the exception of the small holes in the top layer, By this means the advantage is gained that these cells form an air receptacle or air space into which thek transpiration Jfrom` the toot is drawn through the smaller vents in the top layer. The air receptacles created by this mea-ns are not interconnected. The bottom layer, which is not provided with any holes, insulates the foot from cold and damp in the sole of the boot or shoe.
@n the accompanying drawing is shown only by way ot an example an innersole for boots or shoes constructed according` tothe present invention, in Fig. l in vertical longitudinal section, in Fig. 2 seen Yfrom the top and in Fig'. 3 seen from below. Fig. 4 shows a detail ot a fastener.
The innersole shown is composed of a level, upper layer l which over its entire surface is provided with small perforations 2, which are placed close to each other and mayv be round, oval or of any other shape, a. level intermediate layer 3, provided with larger perliorations 5, coaxially located beloiv the holes 2,Y and which may be round, oval or ot' any other shape, as well as a level, compact or dense bottom layer 6 without any holes. The three 'layers l, 3 and 6 are similar in outline. l
All parts are made of waterproof material, e. g. of libresl treated with some celluloid solutions such as dermatoid, pegamoid, granitol etc. or some other suitable material. Each oneof the layers 1 and 6 may consist of two layers secured together by means of waterproof cement or glue, while the layer 3 may consist ot three layers secured below the perlorations in the top layer and together in the same manner for obtaining suilicient and necessary space in the pertcrations 5 forming' the receptacles. All the layers 1, 3 and 6 may also be of single material ot various thicknesses in the said order.
In theV example shown the top, intermediate and bottom layers are held together by means of fasteners 7 placed in such spots where. there is no pressure from the toot. 'lhese Afasteners 7 are preferably made ofy some material which is not affected by-the transpiration ot the -toot, cold or damp. The fasteners may be easily detachable tor hygienic treatment of the innersoles and for renewing the parts in the event of wear. il he perforations vfor the fasteners are pret erably provided with a speciallining. rPhe fasteners may also be attached over the edges olf the inuersoles in order to enable them to be more easily taken apart. The innersole may also be held together in some other way thanby fasteners and the )arts may in certain cases be left unsecured to each other. rlfhe edges the holes and the treads, as well as the edges of the innersole may be reinforced by impregnating' or painting them with a Celluloid solution, e. by innnersing the parts of the innersole in the Celluloid solution. The layers l, Eend 6 may be used separately if desired.
l claim A removable innersole for boots,'comprising three iiat layers ot compact material disposed in superposed relation, said layers beingl adapted to be separated one from the other, the bottom layer being solid, the top layer provided with comparatively small peritorations forming` vents distributed over the entire layer, and the intermediate layer provided with larger pertorations disposed coaxial therewith, the boundary walls of said larger peri'forations -forming withv the bottoni layer a seriesl ol cells distributed over the entire composite sole, said cells being closed with exception of the small vents in the top layer.
ln testimony whereof l have signed my name to this specification. i
