A further object is to provide a device which is simple, efficient, durable and of economical construction.
The invention is'illustrated in the drawings, of which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of device;

The form of the invention shown in the drawings is a preferred form, although it is understood that modifications in the construction and arrangement of the parts and in the character of the materials used may be adoptedv without departing from the spirit of the invention as set forth in the appended claims. y
In general, the idea comprises a pair of casings to be disposed on opposite sides of suppoitingsurfaces and connected by a tubular element which is preferably U-shaped the the adjacent faces of the casings having suction means thereon to -hold them firmly against the supporting surface, which may be the window of an automobile, over the top of which window the tubular element is disposed. In one casing is a drum rotatable on a shaft to which a signal arm is connected. A cable or other connection is wrapped around the drum and passes through the tubular element and at the other end is connected to an operating shaft which on the outside of its respective casing has a handle. This handle has a projecting teat adapted to lie in any one of the indentations on the side of the adjacent casing so as to latch the handle in any desired position. By reason of the U shape of the connecting element the whole device can be hung on the top of a window, although the connecting element can be arranged to pass through a solid wall if desired.

' In the preferred form of the invention shown in the drawings, I provide two casings, 10 and 11, which are to be disposed on the outside and inside of a supporting surface respectively, which may be a window 12 .of an automobile; The casings are. connected by a U-shaped connecting element 13, whicli by reason of its. shapepermits the two casings to be supported from the top of the window if desired, although it is possible to permanently associate the tubular element if desired through a solid wall of the car. v
Within the casing 10 there is disposed a drum 14-. mounted on a shaft 15, carrying on its outer end a signal arm 16. Within the casing 11 is disposed a shaft 17 carry- The window can be ing a short arm: 18 connected to one end of a cable or strap 19,-the other end of which is fastened to and passes around the drum 14:, this strap passing up through the tubular U-shaped connecting element. On the outside of shaft 17 is an operating arm 20,'the movement of which in one direction is limited by a stop pin 21. This arm has a projecting teat 22 adapted to lie in any one-0f the series of indentations 23 formed in the face of the casing 11 adjacent the arm 20, so that the arm as it is moved will be temporarily latched in any one of a .plurality of desired positions. On adjacent drums 10 and 11 are disposed suction devices 24 and 25 which enable them to be firmly clamped or held against the opposite sides of the supporting surface or window12.
It will be observed, therefore, that this device can, when desired be readily slipped over the top of a supporting surface such as a window to permit the signal to be the window is up or down.
What I claim is V 1.-An automobile direction signalling device which comprises a pair of casings adapted to be disposed respectively on the inside and outside of a car, a signalling instrument supported on one casing and an operating element supported on the other casing and a tubular connection between the casing adapted to act as a means for supporting the two casings from the car and a connecting element extending through the tubular element from the operating element to the signal element, and suction means disposed on adjacent faces of the casing to adapt them to be held firmly against the supporting surface.

An automobile direction signalling device which'comprises a pair of casings to be disposed respectively on the opposite sides of a supporting surface, a tubular connecting element extending from one casing to the other, an operating device mounted on one casing and an operated signal mounted on the other casing,-a connecting element eX- tending through the tubular element from one casing to the other, said tubular element being U-shaped to adapt the device to he slipped on the top of a supporting surface such as a window, when desired.

An automobile direction signalling device which comprises a pair of casings to be disposed .respectively on the opposite sides of a supporting surface, a tubular connecting element extending'from one casing to the other, an operatingdevice mounted on one casing and an operated signal mounted on the other casing, a connecting element ex tending through thetubulanelement from one casing to the other, said tubular element being U shaped to adaptthe device to he slipped on the top of a supporting surface such as a window, when desired, and suction means on the adjacent facings of the two casings to adapt them to be held firmly against the supporting surface.

An automobile direction signalling device which comprises a pair of casings to be disposed on opposite sides of supporting surfaces, suction means on adjacent faces of each casing, a drum within one casing, an operating shaft within the other casing, a connecting element extending from the operating shaft to the drum, a signal connected to the drum, an operating handle connected to the shaft, a tubular U-shaped connectingelement extending'from one casing to the other and through which said connecting cable passes, the U shape of the tubular element permitting the support of the device over the top ofthe supporting surface when desired.
