JOHN WAMPAOH, OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BOB-SLEDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. I 59,623, dated February 9, 1875; application filed December To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatI, JOHN WAMPAGH, of Shakopee, in the county of Scott and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bob-Sleds, of which the fol- The inventionvwill first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 is an elevation of the improved bob-sled sectioned longitudinally on the line a; w of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a plan View, and Fig. 3 is a detail, of the tongue, showing the arrangement of the pivot-bolts of the roller to vibrate with the runner, so as not to cramp in the holes of the runners where they rise and fall independently of each other, being jointed to the knees for that purpose.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the tongue-roller, B the pivots,
ots and the holes being contrived to allow the pins to play up and down freely as the roller is raised or lowered at one end above or below the other end by the rising or falling of one of the runners independently of the other, which they are free to do by reason of the joints D at the knees. E represents the re-enforcingstrap or bar of metal eonneoting the nose of the front runners with the bottom at the knee, in order to strengthen the crook. Hrepresents the hounds, and I the sway'bars, to the front beam for serving in connection with the reach J, which extends beyond the front sway-bar, to prevent the front beam from rolling on the joints D. The hounds are boxed into the beam L, and the reach is boxed in the bolster K, so that the bolster rests on the beam each side of the reach. L represents the bounds extending forward of the hind beam each side of the reach, and M the cross-bars connecting them at the front above and below the reach, to hold the hind beam so as not to rock with the runners.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The tongue-roller pivots B, combined with and to vibrate in the ends of the tongue-roller, as and for the purpose specified.
2. The hounds L and connecting-bars M, in combination with the hind beam and the reach, substantially as specified.
JOHN WAMPAGH. Witnesses:
