Description

UNITED STATES PATENT EEICEo ALBERT HAMPE, OF STAUNTON, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN FLOWS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 159,321, dated February 2, 1875; application filed July 25,1874.
y .To au whom it may concern:
b plowshare.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre- E sponding parts.
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the drawing, Arepresents the plow-beam, to which the vertical standard B is hinged by a strong bolt, Bolt G is attached, by washer-plate a and nut b, to the upper part of beam A, and applied byits eye-shaped lower end at the under side of the beam to the pivot-pin d, connecting bolt C, and standard B. The rounded-off end of standard B swings readily along a correspondingly-recessed washer-plate, e, at the under side of beam A. The lowerend of standard B .forks out into two parts, and is firmly bolted to the 'land-side D, which supports again the plow point and share by connectingbraces and suitable strengtheningplates boltedl thereto.
The plow-handles E are rigidly secured to landside and share, the land-side handle being furthermore attached to a rear standard,
F, which connects land-side D with rear end of plowbeam B. The upper end of rear standard F is slotted in vertical direction, and connected to a laterally-slotted bandplnte or clevis, G, by a screw-bolt, F', and in-l terposed washer-plates. The slotted olevis G is sidewise bolted to the rear end of beam A, and projects such a distance from the beam end that the head ot' the screw-bolt F may without obstruction be moved therein for the adjustment of the plowshare. The greater or lesser depth of the share is regulated by swinging the standard B backward or forward on its pivot-bolt, and setting the fasteningbolt F to the position of' the same.
rlhe lateral position of the plowshare sidewise from the beam is adjusted by means ot' the end clevis and screw-bolt, so that the plow can be set as required, increasing thereby the strength of the parts and the efficacy and usefulness of the plow.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1 The plow-beam A, pivoted to swing horizontally on a bolt, O, and vertically on a bolt, d, in combination with the slotted rear standard, F, screw-bolt F', and clevis G, to admit of the two adjustments, as set forth.
- ALBERT HAMPE.
