DISH SCRAPER AND CLEANER.

The invention relates to implements for cleaning food refuse from table kitchen ware 1 nd more particularly to a scraper or s ueegee comprisingarubber scraper pad or b adc attached to a metalhandle.

The objects of the improvement are to provide a device of the character referred to which will quickly and efficiently scrape grease or food from dishes and the like before the dishes are placed in the dishwater for washing; the device comprising a metal handle and side plate between which is clamped a sheet rubber pad or scraping blade, the device being so constructed that it may be placed in the dishwater for thoroughly cleansing the same without danger of deteriorating the material of which it is formed.

An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a dish scraper and cleaner embodying the invention;

Fig. 2, a plan view of the blank from which the handle is formed;

Fig. 3, a view similar to Figure 1 showing the handle and side plates formed of separate pieces, and

Fig. 4, a section on the line 4-it, Fig. 3.

The device includes a flexible sheet rubber scraper pad or blade 1 having the flat lower scraping edge 2 and arranged to be clamped between the metal side plates 3 which may be formed integral with the handle 4. as shown in Figures 1 and 2 or separate from the handle 4* as shown in Figs. 3 and 4. With this latter construotion a more economic use of the sheet metal from which the side plates and handles are formed, is possible.

In the form of the invention shown in Figures 1 and 2, the side plates 3 are stamped from the same sheet of metal as the handle 4:, being formed at opposite ends of the handle which is then bent upon itself, at its center, as shown in Figure 1.

One of the side plates shown in Figures 1 and 2 is provided wlth preferably three tangs 7 stamped from same and arranged to be passed through the rubber pad and through registering apertures 8 in the other side plate and clinched thereon as shown in Figure 1, thus firmly and rigidly clamping the rubber pad or scraper blade between the side plates.

As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, two tangs 7 may be formed upon one of the side plates and passed through the rubber pad and apertures 8 in the other side plate while similar tangs 7* may be provided upon one end of the handle 4 and passed through the rubber pad and registering apertures in the side plates and through apertures 8 in the other end portion of the handle and then clinched as shown in Figs 3 and 4.

The side edges of therubber pad or scraper blade are rounded as shown at 9 in order to fit the curved interiors of different dishes and pans while the corners 10 are provided for entering into grooves, interstices and ornamental surfaces.

By means of this device practically all of the grease and food refuse may be easily and quickly scraped from dishes before they are placed in the dish water, without danger of damaging the dishes, and the scraper itself may be placed in the dishwater and washed without hurting the material of which it is formed.

I claim:

1. A dish scraper and cleaner including a flexible pad, side plates of less area than the pad andclamping the pad on both sides, tangs upon one side plate extending through the pad and other side plate and locked to the other plate and a handle fixed to the side plates.
